“Silence” is a gem of Norwegian blackened atmospheric metal that was somehow lost in the midst of their country’s mid-90’s black metal explosion. Released in 1994, it is the band’s most remarkable effort, a beautiful and elegant masterpiece.

What makes it so unique is the original combination of black, death and heavy metal, as well as the mostly whispered vocals. Back in the days we would call this “dark metal”, and the whole recording is soaked in the atmosphere so characteristic of the 90’s…

This era’s underground music scene had vibes of its own. Some of them have been disregarded because a couple of specific genres gained most of the popularity and fame.
