PARADISE LOST’s “Tragic Illusion 25 (The Rarities)”: a special compilation to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary landmark!

All tracks found on this compilation are rarities from the recording sessions for the band’s recent and much-lauded albums for Century Media Records from “In Requiem” up to last year’s “Tragic Idol”. As new tracks this compilation also presents a brand-new song entitled “Loneliness Remains” and the re-recordings “Gothic 2013” and “Our Saviour 2013”. Accompanied by individual track comments, this is a fantastic collection of rare gems every PARADISE LOST fan should call his own!

Paradise Lost formed in Halifax, West Yorkshire in 1988 & are known for being the founders of the Gothic Death/Doom Metal genre; a style fully brought into existence with their genre-defining second album, the highly influential "Gothic".
Having released 2 albums, including "Gothic", for the UK's Peaceville Records & later helping to establish Peaceville as home to the finest trio of UK doom bands (alongside My Dying Bride & Anathema), Paradise Lost then signed with fellow UK label, Music For Nations which eventually led to the band breaking through to mainstream rock & metal audiences as their style evolved.
"One Second", the band's sixth album, was originally released in 1997 on the Music For Nations label & became a big hit for the band, even entering the top 10 in the German charts upon release. The album was recorded at Battery Studios & Rockfield Studios with producer Ulf "Sank" Sandqvist, & was notable for featuring more streamlined gothic rock tracks & a large portion of electronic elements, while still retaining the trademark Paradise Lost guitar style. The album was a great success, as was the single, "Say Just Words", as featured on "One Second".

This edition of "One Second" is a double LP on heavyweight black vinyl, with gatefold sleeve & is numbered to 2000 copies.
