MEPHITIC GRAVE
Dreadful Seizures

The much-anticipated 2nd full-length by this Hungarian band. Formed in 2018 by Zoli (guitars) and Balázs (drums), initially under the monicker Mothrot, it wasn´t after Knot (guitars) and Ádám (bass/vocals) joined the band that they morphed into Mephitic Grave and the Lovecraftian universe of cosmic horror based Death Metal welcomed a new entity. Their shared adoration of the classic Finndeath scene and the mighty ancient U.S. bands settled their musical approach: unrefined, sickening and miasmatic Death Metal that oozes viscous matter and is drenched in derangement. Their debut album, "Into the Atrium of Inhuman Morbidity", put the band on the map of current, underground Death Metal in 2021. Since then, they´ve been working on new aural madness to dive deeper into the harrowing tones from beyond, which is exactly what they accomplished with "Dreadful Seizures", the band´s sophomore full-length effort. Fans of bands such as Abhorrence, Autopsy, Funebre, Grave, Obituary, Purtenance, Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel, rejoice: "Dreadful Seizures", graced with the talent of cover artist Mónus Viktor, is here to satisfy your craving for vintage Metal of Death!

NECROTUM
Defleshed Exhumation

The pummeling 3rd full-length by this Romanian band. The rancid entity known as Necrotum was initiated by mainman Filip Garlonta (Putred, Demoted, Vorus) in Brasov, back in 2019. Despite the fact that the band has only been around for four years, Necrotum have already produced an impressive output, including two albums and a number of shorter releases, getting tighter, danker, heavier and more macabre over time, drawing inspiration from the likes of early Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Wombbath, Broken Hope and Grave among others, with the sole intention of perpetuating ghastly, downtuned, no-frills Death fuckin´ Metal. While it would be expected (and celebrated) if Necrotum stuck to those rancid guns, on their forthcoming third album, "Defleshed Exhumation", do they become slicker and yet more twisted, tighter but also wilder, and perhaps more "evolved"... very relatively speaking! Because make no mistake, Necrotum are staunchly (and sickly!) Death Metal of a most 90´s vintage, but whereas their preceding full-lengths could be slotted within the pantheon of early 90´s Death Metal, "Defleshed Exhumation" takes a concerted path toward mid or even late 90´s Death Metal. Think the likes of Monstrosity, Broken Hope, Mortal Decay, Deeds of Flesh and pre-breakup Suffocation: undeniably fierce and punishing, but technical in a creepy and oft-slimy way. Not for nothing is the cover art created by Slimeweaver! Of especial note is the production on "Defleshed Exhumation": this is about as slick and clean as you can get whilst retaining the core darkness and horror of classic Death Metal. If anything, those superlatively sharp edges only make that darkness and horror hit harder. Stomp in the slime and twist down into its depths with Necrotum!

MARTYRDOOM
As Torment Prevails

The highly anticipated 2nd full-length by this Polish band. Conceived in Warsaw back in 2010, Martyrdoom went through some lineup changes until they established a solid formation in 2014, consisting of Sociak (vocals), Marol (guitar), Młynar (guitar / vocals), Artur (bass) and Wasyl (drums). With this lineup, in 2017 they released their debut album, "Grievous Psychosis", through yours truly´s label. Blending complex, blastbeat-driven, darkened Death Metal with slow doom passages, the band drew their main influences from the likes of Obituary, Immolation, Rippikoulu, Autopsy, Demilich, Triptykon, Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Hooded Menace, Grave, Disma and Dead Congregation, but they spewed all those influences out with renewed vigor. As far as non-musical inspirations go, their lyrics mostly revolved around old-school horror/gore movies, personal struggles and the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Bloodthirsty and dripping with menace, Martyrdoom are still armed with a thorough knowledge of ancient Death Metal and they return to create something vile and unearthly with "As Torment Prevails". Though six years might´ve passed between full-lengths, these Poles pick up exactly where they left off: eschewing all trends, trudging defiantly and blasting their noxious blend of Death Metal and doomy vibes. If anything, "As Torment Prevails" dives deeper into the ancient past, sounding like a lost relic from 1992, including the striking cover art courtesy of Ryszard Wojtyński. And while Doom no doubt forms a foundation for their sound, never do Martyrdoom sound sluggish here: their guitar sound alone is gutted, and the Doom is definitely all in the feeling, for there´s plenty of off-the-charts energy here no matter what the tempo is. Those especially enamored with the 90´s works of Asphyx and Benediction will find tons to love in "As Torment Prevails", as well as the early (and equally essential) records of Sinister and Hypocrisy. Concluding with a cover of Autopsy´s "In the Grip of Winter", Martyrdoom don´t so much as turn back the clock as crush it!

DIPYGUS
Dipygus

The highly anticipated 3rd full-length by this U.S. band. Since the dawn of the Paleolithic age, mankind has recorded spectacular scenes of death, whether in scenes of cannibal feasts crudely etched on cave walls, massacres immortalized in glyphs adorning monuments of the ancient kingdoms, or in chance recordings of grisly accidents, compiled and sold on home video to those with a thirst for that which is denied to them by our "civilized" society. Spawned in the contaminated sewers of Santa Cruz, California in 2013, Dipygus began as a four-piece mutation performing rudimentary styles of Death Metal, a sonic evolution of the tradition continued from the time of Cro-Magnons. A 2015 demo recording, the earliest surviving documentation of the band, reveled in unexplained and bizarre events, including peculiar methods of whale carcass disposal and otherworldly monsters from on and off the silver-screen. After a lineup change in 2016, Dipygus recorded the "Long Pig Feast" EP, which featured terrifying rites, ritual mutilations and ominous sightings of a Mesozoic relic in the heart of the Congo. Their debut album, "Deathooze", slowly de-composed in the murky shallows of powerplant runoff in the Monterey Bay, ultimately being recorded in 2018. Though quickly banned in over 16 countries, Dipygus´ debut album attracted immediate attention among slime fetishists and similarly deviant circles. Placed appropriately alongside the Fiji mermaids and other grotesque artefacts found in curio cabinets of modern-day antiquarians, "Deathooze" continued the band´s exploration of inexplicable incidents, mysterious beasts and shocking carnage, including genuine audio recovered from a fatal attack at the hands of an ape gone mad! Following their debut album, Dipygus was conjoined with an additional member, and began a new exploration in search of secrets hidden in the jungles of lost continents, where life is cheap. After successful initiation into the shadowy world of black-market cuisine, an agreement was reached with Memento Mori for the release of the band´s second full-length, "Bushmeat". Showcasing more exotic and repulsive themes of the supernatural and taboo, "Bushmeat" presented an uncensored and unrelenting spectacle, with each element of the previous work irresponsibly taken to a further extreme. A prime cut of raw and grueling terror, it was fit for consumption by headhunters, body-snatchers, toad-venom junkies, cargo cultists, aquatic ape theorists, disaster tourists, carriers of tropical disease, voodoo practitioners and orgone revivalists only. All others having since been warned, Dipygus return to time primordial with an elegantly self-titled third album. Suitably graced with evocative cover art courtesy of Hayden Hall, Dipygus thrusts the helpless listener into a psychedelic jungle of grisly delights. At 10 songs in 41 minutes, the quartet qualify their most lengthy recording yet with maximum delirium and characteristically crushing execution. Everything here feels massive -tone, feel, supernatural aura- yet somehow simultaneously exhibits a spacious quality that´s unsettling to the Nth degree. Perhaps that´s due to Dipygus´ increasingly twisted songwriting, neither "tech" nor improvisatory, but a certain "elevated caveman" aspect that pushes primitivism toward mind-bending ends. Fleeting-yet-haunting leads also play a part in Dipygus´ menagerie of malodorousness, exacerbating the psychotic reactions in their humid, hellish jungle, and even touches of way-back synths get mangled within, melting into the fuckton heaviness of Dipygus´ riffing. Ever wanna hear the most tripped-out moments of Autopsy, Impetigo and especially Nuclear Death taken to their ILLogicial conclusion? Then enter Dipygus´ self-titled album... if you dare!

ETERNAL ROT
Moribound

The highly anticipated 3rd album by this Polish/U.K. band. Eternal Rot crawled out of a musty dungeon in London in 2012, born out of a passion for Death Metal by Mayer and Grindak. Their 2013 Promo Tape demo (released as Grave Grooves on 7" EP through Fallen Temple Productions a year after), featured two swampy and deadly tracks that attracted vigilant zombies who began to spread the word about a new sonic disease. A few years of disgusting excavations later, they joined forces with Godz Ov War Productions and spewed out the debut album "Cadaverine", which was adorned with the artwork of Mark Riddick, who would ultimately become the band´s artist of choice from then on. Shortly after, the duo were joined by Radek Pierściński (Meat Spreader, Neuropathia, The Dead Goats) on drums, and the result was the band´s second album, "Putridarium", which featured an improved formula of their already trademark purulent and über-crushing Death Metal. The band´s latest chapter of filth up to date was the 2021 split with Death/Doom Metal powerhouse Coffins, on Behind the Mountain Records. Now, at long last, Eternal Rot will release their 3rd album, "Moribound". Aptly titled in a perverse way and again graced with another unforgettable Mark Riddick cover, "Moribound" proves that the power-trio´s Death Metal is as undead as ever - "rottenly fresh", as it were, or perhaps "freshly rotten"! No compromise made and no quarter given, Eternal Rot stick to their grimy guns and unleash another slab of organ-crushing, mind-blowing, and sickening Death Metal. That it´s stripped to the fucking bone is one thing (and indeed it is); that it´s insanely catchy is another! Someone once said that it takes a truly smart man to know when to be dumb, and Eternal Rot just might be the smartest men around with the ignorant, knuckle-dragging stomp of "Moribound". There´s just no resisting these anthems-in-the-making, especially as the gut-wrenching crunch devours you whole and then sucks the very marrow from both bone and soul. Of course, a horror-drenched atmosphere still pervades all that Eternal Rot do, but the modus operandi here is undeniably the absolute crush of the listener - in the catchiest way possible! Maniacs for Autopsy, Undergang, Hooded Menace, Rippikoulu, Anatomia, Disma, Coffins, Grave, Incantation and Funebrarum, prepare to permanently add Eternal Rot to that list with "Moribound"!

NULLA+
Mente Captus

"Mente Captus" is Latin for "captured in the mind" (from which the Italian term "mentecatto" is derived), an expression used by the Romans to refer to a person with limited ability to act due to mental infirmity. Today, it is mostly used in an extended and generic sense (similar to "foolish," "senseless," or "stupid") as an insulting or contemptuous title or severe reprimand. The album's title encapsulates the central concept of the album: each song, in its own way, explores different human follies, both big and small. Madness can manifest in imposing forms like war or in daily dependencies, such as excessive and compulsive smartphone use. Although the term is commonly associated with people of low social status, "mentecatti" are not just individuals marginalized in society; often, the true "mentecatti" are those who hold power. Their madness has the power to inflict considerable harm on a social, political, and environmental level, compromising the balance and stability of humanity as a whole. These powerful "mentecatti," driven by unbridled ambition and selfish interests, can cause inequalities, conflicts, exploitation of natural resources, and environmental destruction. The title "Mente Captus" thus represents a critical reflection on the nature of human follies and how they are conceived and misclassified, subservient to the ever-increasing ego of humanity, reverberating in every aspect of our existence.

DEFYING
Wadera

"Wadera" is a concept album inspired by the Polish horror film "The Wolf" (1983) and the short story "Wadera" (1977) by Jerzy Gierałtowski.

The album is a musical story about revenge from beyond the grave, told in the spirit of dark romanticism. The word "wadera" comes from hunting vocabulary and means a female wolf.

In order to achieve a 19th century atmosphere, the album was captured with traditional equipment and microphones - without the use of any plugins or samples during recording.

We also utilized more than a hundred-year-old instruments, such as zither or hunting horn. The goal was to make "Wadera" sound like an old film tape.

Mechanical Gods

Gdanian presents us his third album on Cryo Chamber. Mechanical Gods is a deep subterranean journey ripe with robotic basslines and tech-ritualism within an atmospheric framework

…When we entered The Below World, we found the human inhabitants divided into subnormal primal groupings of savage and superstitious tribes who collectively worshipped the machines that oppressed them. Sacrificial offerings of living martyrs were made to the Mechanica in order to appease them of their remorseless and emotionless rancour.

The humans had resorted to primeval idolatry behaviours that put them in awe of the undiminishing energy source of the Plasner System—a great churning ball of heat and light that pulsated over them in the upper echelons of the principal chamber. It became clear to us, meanwhile, that they had lost all awareness of the overground world and that, for them, the limits of the universe were confined to the depths of their subterranean enclosure.
