Construct marks a bold and mature chapter in Dark Tranquillity’s evolution, showcasing a band unafraid to strip things down and focus on atmosphere, emotion, and razor-sharp songwriting. Released in 2013, the album stands apart in the band’s catalog for its introspective tone and refined restraint, trading sheer aggression for tension, groove, and haunting melodic depth.
Every element feels deliberate: tight, mechanical riffs, subtle electronics, and dark, pulsing rhythms create a cold and claustrophobic soundscape, perfectly matched by Mikael Stanne’s expressive and commanding vocal delivery.
This CD edition, presented in the classic jewel box format, captures Construct in its purest form – an album that rewards repeated listening and reveals new layers with each spin. Rather than relying on speed or excess, Dark Tranquillity build an oppressive yet immersive atmosphere, where silence, space, and texture are just as powerful as distortion and blast beats.
Tracks like “For Broken Words”, “The Science of Noise”, and “Uniformity” highlight the band’s ability to evolve without losing identity, while the album as a whole feels cohesive, focused, and emotionally resonant. Construct is a statement of confidence and maturity, a dark and thoughtful work that proves Dark Tranquillity’s relevance and creative strength well into their later career.
Fiction is one of Dark Tranquillity’s most defining and celebrated albums, a true milestone of modern melodic death metal. Originally released in 2007, this record represents the band at the absolute peak of their creative power, refining the Gothenburg sound into something darker, sharper, and emotionally charged.
Crushing riffs, icy melodies, and precise, aggressive drumming are perfectly balanced with melancholic atmospheres and unforgettable hooks, while Mikael Stanne’s vocal performance delivers both fury and introspection with commanding intensity. This Sevan Mater 500 Limited Edition CD is a must-have for collectors and fans alike, presenting Fiction in its classic jewel box format, faithful to the original spirit of the release while highlighting its enduring importance in Dark Tranquillity’s discography.
The album flows seamlessly from start to finish, combining relentless energy with moments of brooding darkness and melodic elegance. Tracks like “Misery’s Crown” and “The Lesser Faith” have become genre staples, while deeper cuts showcase the band’s masterful songwriting and emotional depth.
Fiction is a statement of identity, strength, and evolution, standing as one of the most influential melodic death metal records of its era.
