"Key to a Vanishing Future" is an intended departure from the sounds explored throughout the band's back catalog, while still retaining characteristics inherent to Falls of Rauros. Never content to make the same album twice, the group has once again invited new influences into their aesthetic, this time including more explicit nods to death metal and prog rock while still drilling deeper into the black metal and North American folk-rock that makes up their core sound. This is once again their heaviest album to date, as well as their most technically demanding. The album was recorded by the band themselves in their rehearsal space in late 2020/early 2021, befitting of the natural and organic sound pursued for the album, while mixing and mastering duties were handled by Colin Marston. With Falls of Rauros' 4th full-length album, Vigilance Perennial, a vital complexity and multifaceted emotion is at the forefront of this stunning quartet's musical creativity, drive and evolution. Ever since the opening notes of the Hail Wind and Hewn Oak debut, Falls of Rauros have never put on a mask to hide behind a false facade.
Their sound has indeed grown to embrace an otherworldly atmosphere that feels almost spiritual, but their songs possess endlessly layered riffs and thoughts from the heart that feel as real as the earth squishing up between your toes as you stop to appreciate the sound of the wind sailing through the pines. Such an organic flow and endlessly dynamic rise and fall elevates the 5 songs of Vigilance Perennial from a multi-layered bout of aggression to beautiful moments of music that twist with a powerful and honest emotion rarely experienced within a musical mindset that others refer to as “black metal”.

Falls of Rauros returns with 44 minutes of melancholic atmosphere and soaring melodies. “The Light that Dwells in Rotten Wood” takes the sound that they established with “Hail Wind and Hewn Oak” and expands into an even more relaxed and contemplative mood, lamenting over a land scape cast aside and the spirit of wildness lost. The classical debut album ”Hail Wind And Hewn Oak” is now available again after a longer time out of print. The CD comes with a revised artwork illustrated by N. Burns in order to match the recent vinyl edition by Lost Forty Recordings. ”Hail Wind And Hewn Oak” was the first seed sown by these progressive US Folk Metallers and lit the fires of what now is known as Falls of Rauros.

Falls of Rauros much anticipated 3rd album, ”Believe in no Coming Shore”, is a masterwork of emotive and passionate blackened metal deeply influenced by genres such as folk and Americana. Thoughts on the album run wild as for this album Falls of Rauros really enters in to their own special and vibrant sound. The harsh and desperately screamed vocals are still in full force as well as their atmospherically charged form of extreme metal. “Believe in no Coming Shore” unlocks a brilliant web of passionate guitar work that seizes the spirit of total freedom.
