A new EP from the German black/death one-man band Kanonenfieber, Der Füsilier, will be released by the joint forces of Avantgarde Music and Noisebringer Records on January, 13th, 2023.

Torn from their homeland, their family and their lives.

German soldiers were sent to their deaths by the thousands in the icy expanses of the Karpaten. Hunger, frostbite and inhuman hygienic conditions were constant companions of the divisions sent to Przemyśl.

Over 110,000 Austro-Hungarian soldiers trapped in Przemyśl had been waiting for months to be released from the siege by Russian forces. This is where the protagonist "The Fusilier" comes into play. After an unsuccessful liberation attempt, the German troops try to fight their way back into the territory of the Reich.

Meter-high snow and unsuitable equipment bring the fusiliers to their limits. The ice hell in the Kaparten demands everything from the men. The incessant skirmishes coupled with a lack of supplies drive the casualty figures into the thousands.

In the midst of this horror, the Fusilier trudges forward with the goal of returning to the arms of his beloved. Hunger wears him out, his feet ache in his frozen boots, but the desire to get home keeps him going.

Underground sensation Kanonenfieber recorded their performance at Dark Easter Metal Meeting 23 on a live recording, initially available on cd and dvd only, but now on vinyl too!

As with its predecessor, KANONENFIEBER’s second album “Die Urkatastrophe” is based on factual reports, letters and original documents from the surviving and deceased soldiers from the First World War. Its intent is not to glorify, because there is no glory in war. Everyone loses – their lives, their souls, their humanity. War is often depicted in an abstract way, through numbers and statistics. KANONENFIEBER aim to tell the stories of the nameless and the faceless in order to allow for a small glimpse of their personal horrors, and thereby the larger scale horror for mankind as a whole. KANONENFIEBER’s black and death metal isn’t meant to solely entertain, but also educate and raise awareness against the glorification of war. “Die Urkatastrophe” was recorded with Kristian Kohle (Powerwolf, Aborted, Benighted and many more) at Kohlekeller Studio, and features guitarist Maik Weichert of HEAVEN SHALL BURN on the song “Waffenbrüder”
