Following the reissue of the 2021 EP “I Fall With The Saints” and after their appreciated latest album “Fanciulli D’Occidente” (released in 2024 by our friends at Dusktone), the italian Avantgarde Black Metal outfit LAETITIA IN HOLOCAUST comes back with a new short but yet ambitous work, titled “I Rise With The Dead”.
Although featuring only two tracks, LAETITIA IN HOLOCAUST felt the need to tackle the composition of a 12-minutes long, atmospheric and wide-ranging piece – “Gioia e Pianto alle Teste dei Leoni” – trying to maintain the same intensity and ferocity of the latest album, although broaden its spectrum by creating more persistent and less rapidly changing musical scenarios.
LIH need no introductions: they have proven to be always ahead of their time, and have done so time and time again since the initial inception in 2001, still being one of the best avantgarde black metal band within Italian scene.
Expect everything we have all come to love about LIH: incredibly inventive Black Metal with a unique vision and an unmatched delivery, a penchant for sophistication and experimentalism in its truest form, slaying and cold guitar riffs, outstanding lyrics, impeccable drumming and their signature fretless bass
The LIH formula blends the solemnity and exaltation of late Spite Extreme Wings with the technical complexity and dynamism of acts such as Ved Bues Ende and Deathspell Omega.
LAETITIA IN HOLOCAUST was born in 2001 by Stefano G. and Nicola D.A. and nowadays plays a technical and progressive form of extreme metal with heavy influences from black metal. "Laetitia" means happiness, "holocaust" means sacrifice: so the moniker stands for "happiness in sacrifice".
Main sources of inspiration lie in somber visions, past times, dream omens, philosophy, darkness and war.
LIH's fifth full album - after an interesting effort such as the EP "I Fall With The Saints" released in 2021 - is entitled “FANCIULLI D’OCCIDENTE”, and the title is both a memorandum and a wish.
A memorandum for today's people of any age: the visions and values of those who shaped the history of Europe, that is, its children, our ancestors, are sacred and cannot be lost. A wish for our children: may you be worthy of the blood shed by the Children of the West.
LIH plays a blend of avantgarde black metal rooted in the visions created by acts such as Ved Buens Ende, later Spite Extreme Wing or the mighty Mayhem in their "Grand Declaration Of War" vibes
