LUSTRE
A Thirst for Summer Rain

Eldritch, boundless desolation, awe-inspiring in its profundity, blanching in its focus, LUSTRE’s A Glimpse of Glory is an experience like no other. Awash in mile-high walls of hypnotic, hypothermic synths, the three epic tracks comprising the album idiosyncratically fuse together arcane elements of black metal, dark ambient, pagan metal, and funeral doom, glacial in drift and towering in its vision. Imagine Burzum’s Dunkelheit crossed with Summoning’s Stronghold, but spawned in the same studio environs Skepticism uses: perhaps then you will catch A Glimpse of Glory.

Standard CD edition

With icy melodies, haunted screams and an atmosphere as thick as the winter snows, LUSTRE returns. "The Ashes of Light" continues Nachtzeit's legacy with majestic splendour; its enthralling atmospheric black metal searching for lost secrets in the woods, among the stars.

Otherworldly keyboards and epic, long melody lines stretching across galaxies soothe the soul with their mysterious echoes of ancient truths. The dreamlike ambience is hypnotic and mesmerizing. Escape your daily woes and the modern noise by stepping into the grand, ethereal halls of LUSTRE.

“A Thirst for Summer Rain” is the eighth full-length album of Lustre – the Swedish apotheosis of ambient black metal.

PURPLE VINYL

Nordvis presents, for the first time on vinyl: Lustre’s “Phantom”. Previously only available in 300 copies as part of the limited “Blossom” CD boxset from 2015. At the time, this EP took a darker turn than the preceding releases – instead of majestic and regal ambience, one could say that Nachtzeit went back to the minimalist lo-fi black metal of early works such as “Nightspirit”.

As is always the case with Lustre, the music’s key components are slow, heavily textured, and keyboard-laden dirges – driven forward by simplistic and monotonous percussion and occasionally broken up by swarms of guitar distortion. The doomy and droning riffs are repeated at length, but always embedded in an ever-changing soundscape that never gets dull. The keyboards, guitars, and drums often bleed into each other to the extent where it occasionally sounds more ambient than metal.
