“Et Hav av Avstand" is the 8th full-length studio album from the legendary Norwegian Black Metal band Taake.
It consists of four songs clocking in at 42 minutes, displaying some of the finest songwriting yet from this epic one-man band.
Fierce, but melancholy. Vigorously old-school but also progressive. retaining that unfiltered sense of unique rawness that is synonymous with Hoest’s charismatic sound and musical identity.
Taake still manages to stay relevant and at the forefront of the genre and Hoest, who plays every instrument on the album, has ensured that the album is imbued with the unique Taake sound whilst at the same time developing it further.
This is unmistakably Taake, and as always, an intense work that surprises and enthrals.

The traditional three year wait is over, and Hoest has now completed the sixth Taake album.
"Stridens hus" takes the unique Taake sound and develops it further.
Still true to the spirit of the old Norwegian Black Metal, Hoest breathes new life into the genre by introducing different elements that ensure the sound remains fresh and relevant. Some parts are more groove and rock orientated, whilst some have a distinctly punk attitude. However, this is still unmistakably Taake and, as always, we're treated to a varied album with intense, unique and unpredictable dynamics.
“Avvik” translates to anomaly or deviation. And even though Taake have been recognized as an important act within the Norwegian Black Metal scene for decades, they have always stood on the outside of main currents of black metal, a scene once founded by deviants and outcasts. In this context, “Avvik” also refers to this particular collection of songs, as the album compiles tracks which never really fitted in to any of the Taake releases, and hence ended up on three split-10” with Whoredom Rife, Deathcult and Helheim, released on different labels. “Avvik” collects the Taake tracks from the three split-10” releases for a limited digipak cd release. All tracks have been remixed and remastered for a digital release, and some of the remixes have some surprising guest appearances. Exclusively for this release, Dr Mikannibal of Sigh did Taake the honour of adding her saxophone to a slightly longer version of the Sisters of Mercy cover “Heartland”. Also, live guitarist Gjermund have done a very special acoustic version of the classic track “Nattestid ser Porten vid I”, which is exclusive for this release. “Avvik” closes one chapter for Taake and opens for a new one.
White Vinyl
“Stridens hus”, the sixth album from Taake, is now available for the first time on 180 gram white vinyl and transparent crystal vinyl! Both versions come with the original poster and each is limited to 750 copies.

Once again, Hoest played all the instruments himself, but this time the Taake live band has contributed to the recording, alongside producer Bjørnar E. Nilsen.

For the first time ever, Noregs Vaapen has been remixed and remastered from the original multitrack recordings, bringing new clarity and depth to one of Taake’s most celebrated works. This collector’s edition comes in a 20-page deluxe Digibook, complete with lyrics and rare, previously unpublished photos from the album’s recording sessions. To mark the occasion, the set also includes the first official Taake DVD: the band’s anniversary concert where Noregs Vaapen was performed in its entirety – raw, uncompromising, and captured in full. Originally released in 2011, Noregs Vaapen is the fifth studio album from Norway’s black metal institution Taake – and often hailed as their strongest. It sees Hoest sharpening his trademark riffs, melodies, and biting vocals, while weaving in unexpected turns: black’n’roll grooves, chilling mellotrons, and even the now-legendary banjo solo. Songs like the anthemic Nordbundet, the relentless Myr, and the infamous Orkan have long since earned their place in the pantheon of True Norwegian Black Metal. While Hoest is once again behind all music, lyrics, instruments, and vocals, the album also features contributions from Taake’s then live-lineup — Thurzur, V’gandr, Aindiachai, and Gjermund — alongside a rare gathering of prominent guests: Nocturno Culto (Darkthrone), Attila Csihar (Mayhem), Demonaz (Immortal), Bjørnar Nilsen (Vulture Industries), and Skagg (Gaahlskagg, Deathcult).

“Noregs Vaapen” is the fifth studio album from the legendary Norwegian black metal band Taake, considered by many to be their strongest album. The album saw the band refine their True Norwegian Black Metal sound, while also taking a step further, including some new elements. The album is filled with Hoest’s trademark riffs, melodies and vocals, but also includes more unpredictable parts, more black’n’roll grooves, ice cold mellotrons, and a now legendary banjo solo. The album features classics like the catchy “Nordbundet”, “Myr” and the controversial, anti-religious “Orkan”. Hoest himself is behind all music, lyrics, instruments and vocals as usual – but the album also features contributions from Taake’s live line-up at the time; Thurzur, V’gandr, Aindiachai and Gjermund. There are also some prominent guest appearances from people like Nocturno Culto (Darkthrone), Attila Csihar (Mayhem), Demonaz (Immortal), Bjørnar Nilsen (Vulture Industries) and Skagg (Gaahlskagg, Deathcult). After being out of print for a few years, Dark Essence Records is now releasing a very special edition vinyl box set - Containing a fully remixed & remastered version of “Noregs Vaapen” spread across two LPs, with the first (and probably last) ever repress of the “Kveld” EP – as well as a 16-page booklet, featuring lyrics and photos.
