Solaris marks the beginning of a new chapter for The Ocean, who, following major changes in their lineup, rediscover their signature atmospheric post-metal sound through a new combination of musicians and creative sensibilities. The Berlin-based band’s twelfth album draws inspiration from Andrei Tarkovsky’s film Solaris and accounts of great expeditions, transforming the journey into the unknown into a reflection on humanity’s desire to explore, conquer, and push beyond its own limits.

Recorded at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios, the compositions combine the band’s familiar heaviness with piano, celesta, Hammond organ and synthesizers, resulting in a broad, organic sound.
