CD box set from dark ambient/symphonic black metal master VINTERRIKET!

Started in late 1996 VINTERRIKET (Norwegian and Swedish for "The Winter Realm") was founded by German musician Christoph Ziegler in order to capture the dark side of Mother Nature.

The first demo tape was released in early 2000 and since then, VINTERRIKET has been extremely productive, releasing a total of 6 demos, 13 studio albums, 11 EPs, 20 split albums and 12 compilations, some in very small editions.

The albums included on this amazing collection are '...Und Die Nacht Kam Schweren Schrittes' (2002), 'Der Letzte Winter - Der Ewigkeit Entgegen' (2005), 'Lichtschleier' (2006) and 'Gebirgshöhenstille' (2008).

Over 70 minutes of mighty atmospheres, which will take you through chasms, caves and titan woods. For fans of Burzum, Paysage d'Hiver, Orodruin etc.

"Entlegen" ("Remoto"), d'altro canto, è probabilmente il disco più strutturato ed elaborato che abbia mai sentito da parte della one-man band, lontano anni luce dall'omogeneità di altri lavori come il precedente "Garðarshólmur". Il viaggio si apre con "Tal Der Trauer", una tipica intro di synth e tastiere molto cupa, come un cielo carico di neve, ma già dalla successiva "Seelenleere" i toni virano verso un neofolk acustico grazie alla presenza di un cantato pulito e cristallino, con le tastiere poco più che sommesso sottofondo per la gran parte dei suoi nove minuti. Solo con "Sturmesnacht / Naturflimmern" si torna a lambire le coste del dark ambient che ha reso celebri le opere di Ziegler, dove i sussurri del vento condividono il palco con i sussurri del musicista. Tutto il lavoro si alterna lungo questi binari: un po' neofolk, un po' dark ambient; un po' dark ambient, un po' neofolk.
