After "Varcolaci Rising", DTL is back on the path to the next full length (the one originally planned after "From the Abyss"), entitled "Conquer or Serve".
This path however is not a silent one.
Thus the "Paradise Slaves" EP is recorded, delving into the weakness of mankind being slaves to their delusions of paradise, enslaved by feeble dogmas of corrosive and crumbling belief systems, as well as exploring the darker mindset that some serial killers have expressed, that those they kill will become their slaves in the afterlife.

This EP is one of raw & melancholic Black Metal.

"The Masters Intolerant Empire" is a compilation which has the second Drowning the Light album "The Masters Empire" on it, as well as the "Ritual of Intolerance & Hatred" rehearsal on it.
Out on CD through Dark Adversary Productions.

"The Masters Empire" has had a few incarnations, this one being its most ferocious;
Originally recorded in 2006 and only sent to a few contacts under the title "The Masters Call" it excluded the track "Waltz of Decay and Pestilence".
Later "The Masters Empire" was part of the "9 years 9 months" Asgard Musik box set (limited to 99), this time as a split with Sabnack.
Then in 2009-2010 "The Masters Empire" was finally released as it was originally intended, as a stand alone full length.

Now over 7 years have passed, and "The Masters Empire" is unleashed again, this time in its ultimate form, with the "Ritual of Intolerance & Hatred" rehearsal from 2007 as a bonus.

Drowning the Light return from the shadows with "Varcolaci Rising"! Originally meant to be to a MCD/EP to be written and recorded during the lunar cycle - from the new moon of the 26th of April to the new moon on the 26th of May, inspiration struck in isolation and darkness and soon this vampyric offering evolved and bled out into a full length album.
Focusing on lycanthropy and vampyrism, and in particular the Varcolaci, a reoccurring creature which has had hymns sung in its name since the very first Drowning the Light album ("Drowned").
The Varcolaci are shape shifting vampyres associated with the astral plane, and able to assume many forms. In folklore the Varcolaci was believed to be responsible for eclipses or the blood moon, drinking the blood and essence of the sun and moon, often described as small wolf-like dragons, winged phantoms, dogs (2 in number), or creatures with many mouths or tendrils that suck like an octopuses tentacles.
