Selling CD - Extreme Metal and Dark music
Hailing from the cascadian gloom of British Columbia, Canada, Ulvik,
formed by Jade Fadel and George Allen, released a double length with
Avantgarde Music in 2019, Volume I & II. After spending the opening
months of the 2020 pandemic creating Isolation Motifs, a short concept
instrumental album and corresponding video series, Ulvik finished writing
and recording their sophomore album, Cascades.
Cascades is a hypnotic, atmospheric black metal album, incorporating the
old, organic textures of plucked and bowed bouzoukis and violins to create
ethereal interludes, in contrast to the visceral aggressive tone of each track.
This melding is mirrored by shared dual vocals, creating a counter balance
that weaves and crashes between malevolent and haunting.

Founded in 1984, Heir Apparent issued a pair of ground-breaking albums between 1986 and 1989. Prior to the formation of Heir Apparent band was called Nemesis for a year. When vocalist Corey Rivers left the band in early 1984, the three remaining members recruited singer Paul Davidson, and the band's name was changed to Heir Apparent. The music of this Seattle-based band spans a range from progressive speed metal to acoustic-driven power ballads, fused with melodic and intelligent lyrical themes, and respected for their intense and emotive live performances. Since 2000, Terry Gorle has reformed Heir Apparent for several festival concerts in Europe, and numerous local shows around the Seattle area. In 2015, a line-up was solidified for additional European festivals, and a third studio album release in 2018. This album, ‘Foundations II’ contains the cult demo ‘Triad’ from 1988 (13 tracks) and Demo 2003 (3 tracks). https://www.facebook.com/HeirApparentOfficial

“Avvik” translates to anomaly or deviation. And even though Taake have been recognized as an important act within the Norwegian Black Metal scene for decades, they have always stood on the outside of main currents of black metal, a scene once founded by deviants and outcasts. In this context, “Avvik” also refers to this particular collection of songs, as the album compiles tracks which never really fitted in to any of the Taake releases, and hence ended up on three split-10” with Whoredom Rife, Deathcult and Helheim, released on different labels. “Avvik” collects the Taake tracks from the three split-10” releases for a limited digipak cd release. All tracks have been remixed and remastered for a digital release, and some of the remixes have some surprising guest appearances. Exclusively for this release, Dr Mikannibal of Sigh did Taake the honour of adding her saxophone to a slightly longer version of the Sisters of Mercy cover “Heartland”. Also, live guitarist Gjermund have done a very special acoustic version of the classic track “Nattestid ser Porten vid I”, which is exclusive for this release. “Avvik” closes one chapter for Taake and opens for a new one.
This 2nd release and first full length long player from ABSTRACT THE LIGHT, sees a continuation and further development of the sounds and feelings touched on on the debut release “From Out Of The Void” yet steps further into the dark and mystical folk sounds and bleak and emotive black metal touched on in passages previously...
Further drawing influence from a life of experience, trials and tribulations, loss and sadness this album delves further into the psyche of man.
