A 70+ minute sprawling voyage, ‘Värähtelijä’ more accurately represents the stunning live presence of the band where the songs often span new and previously unheard dimensions of form and structure. Second EP of one of Portugal's most promising new bands, OCERCO's A Desolação. Set to be released as a special digifile CD nest, limited to 500 copies, A Desolação comprises three seamlessly linked songs of splendor and tension, trance and catharsis. OCERCO's sound stems from the post-black metal canon, but safely eludes the negative connotations associated with such an appellation. More accurately, the band's commitment to textural development and labyrinthine, drawn-out construction signal a strive for more complex corridors of spirituality. From there, A Desolação explodes and recoils, twists and turns, always bathed in an aura of the unknown and unease - and yet, its complexities are ever so subtle and most rewarding. Listeners will find a kinship to bands like Wolves in the Throne Rome, Altar of Plagues, Ash Borer, and the likes, but across the 20 minutes here, OCERCO stake a claim for their own identity.

Melbourne, Australia’s INVERLOCH, featuring 2/4 of the legendary diSEMBOWELMENT return with one of the most anticipated full-length debuts the metal underground has seen in years. After releasing a highly lauded EP in 2012, INVERLOCH have created another masterpiece with Distance l Collapsed, a 5 song, 40 minute LP of absolutely crushing death/doom. Buzzsaw death metal riffs and bowel splitting vocals mix alongside earth shaking dirges and blasting percussion, all wrapped together in a haunting yet beautifully dreadful atmosphere.

Ares Kingdom is a project comprised of two-thirds of Order From Chaos: guitar visionary Chuck Keller and flagellator Mike Keller on drums
It’s been five years since their sophomore release Incendiary, two since their covers album Veneration, and since Ares Kingdom perfected their brand of blackened thrash/death metal. In this day and age where every hole of the corpse has been fucked to the point of gaping, it’s not uncommon for a metal band to sound derivative. Such is the strength of Ares Kingdom. No other band sounds like them. No drummer. No guitarist. No vocalist. Unavoidably, there are moments reminiscent of Keller and Miller’s former projects, but still Ares Kingdom very much has its own sound, taking from all extreme genres and forging their own on this, their third album, The Unburiable Dead.
