DDuplicate Records proudly presents EXECRATION's full-length debut album Syndicate Of Lethargy on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and re-edited, and with a new cover artwork, the album is finally available in its definite edition, on the fomat it deserves!

Formed in 2004, Execration - a two-piece, at the time - recorded their first demo in 2005: six heavily thrash-inspired songs and a cover of Celtic Frost's "Into The Crypts of Rays". In 2006, original member Jorgen Maristuen returned to the band, and the focus shifted towards death metal. They wrote and recorded their first 5 song EP, Language of the Dead. The EP was released in early 2007 through Entartete Musik, the now defunct label of Espen Hangaard (Noplacetohide, Killl, She Said Destroy, Diskord).

In addition to the half hour long EP itself the full-length LP will include the previously unreleased 10-minute track Imminent Doom, that was intended for a compilation that never came to fruition.

Whereas the 2019 demo (released on tape by Duplicate) showed a highly promising self-producing black metal artist, the self-titled album delivers on that promise tenfold. The evident progression in both composition, performance and production is simply staggering.

Motstand was originally recorded in 2012, but has remained under lock and key until 2020 when vocals were recorded, and in 2021 the final mixes were completed.

In just over half an hour it transports the listener straight back to
the glory days of 90s black metal, combining the coldness of the early progenitors with the atmosphere of the melody-based direction that would follow.

The lo-fi nature of the recordings gives off a sense of urgency and is like a snapshot from an era long lost. That authentic feeling often missing in today's black metal, is prevalent throughout the album.
 

A bunch of young bucks dead set on destruction, Oslo's HORRIFIER formed in 2022 and quickly set to work on their first sonic assaults. Their debut demo, Howls From the Grave, came as the year drew to a close, and just as quickly garnered the band attention in the underground. During the spring of this year, HORRIFIER had that demo compiled onto Cave of Death - Vol.1, a five-way split with Vile Apparition, Constant Torment, Goredawn, and Congealed Putrescence. Indeed, a new breed was rising from Norway, and they were bringing back undead sounds...

Whereas its predecessor, Vanskapning (Duplicate Records 2020), was arranged and recorded as one lengthy track, LORE does the exact opposite, consisting of 12 shorter instalments. Still constructed to be listened to as a whole, the pieces segue naturally into one another, creating a whole greater than the sum of it parts. Stylistically, the album lands somewhere between the monolithic shadow of Vanskapning, and the earlier more conventionally structured works. However, the way the parts are arranged bring to mind a movie soundtrack, which makes sense as the early embryo of the album was vastly inspired by Charles Bernstein's Relentless Attack which featured in the 1982 supernatural horror film The Entity. With the lyrics also drawing inspiration from horrific tales, and unique, eerie artwork, LORE becomes so much more than just another metal record, and something of an artefact of horror itself.
