The 1996 debut of cult classic medieval Black Metal mastery from Monaco's Godkiller.
Remastered vinyl edition featuring the original artwork, and marking 25 years since its original release.
2021 CD reissue of the 1996 debut of cult classic medieval black metal mastery from Monaco's Godkiller.
A prime example of finely crafted, grandiose yet raw mid-90s Black Metal, the release creatively developed out of 1995's demo, The Warlord (incorporating music from that release, with anti-Christian themes prevalent throughout and an overall concept of the battle between good and evil).
With a cold, stripped down production, plus triumphantly dark yet epic riffs mixed with tortured vocals and highly effective synthesizer melodies, the EP evokes a strong Medieval atmosphere throughout, and shows why The Rebirth of the Middle Ages is still highly regarded as a glorious touch of darkness from the past.
Presented with its original artwork, plus lyrics. Remastered by Godkiller’s Duke Satanaël himself.
COINCIDING WITH THE TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF GODKILLER’S FINAL FULL-LENGTH ALBUM OF DARK METAL WITH INDUSTRIAL & ELECTRONIC ELEMENTS.
Formed in 1993 & hailing from Monaco, Godkiller was the vision of multi-instrumentalist & sole founding member, Duke Satanaël, who between 1996 & 2000 released an EP & 2 studio albums under the Godkiller name, commencing with the black metal cult classic debut 'The Rebirth Of The Middle Ages'.
Though initially more a death metal inspired act in the formative years, Godkiller quickly developed into a project fully engulfed in the spirit of 1990s black metal, bringing to mind acts like Emperor & Satyricon for the implementation of such strong atmospherics, though on later releases Godkiller incorporated more industrial & electronic elements into the compositions as part of its creative evolution.
‘Deliverance’ was Godkiller’s second studio album & final release before the project was laid to rest & ventured into a more electronic & industrially metallic direction for what could be considered a more contemporary & expressive take on Godkiller’s established brand of darkness.
Coinciding with the album’s 25th anniversary, this edition of ‘Deliverance’ is presented on CD format for the first time since its original release, including an eight page booklet with full lyrics.
Pressed on transparent / white merge record. Side B contains no music but features a black screen print. Comes with a 2-page insert and a download card. Colors on final record may vary to a degree from the mock up.
Formed 1994 in Monaco, GODKILLER was the work of multi-instrumentalist Duke Satanaël, releasing a classic 1996 debut EP of haunted and anguished medieval Black Metal - "The Rebirth of the Middle Ages" - and 2 subsequent albums of cold Industrial Metal between 1998 and 2000 before going on indefinite hiatus.
Now issued by DMP on special 7" vinyl, superb standalone track 'The End of the World' was recorded in 1997 and featured on "In Decay We Trust Vol.1", a 1998 CD-only compilation issued by Avantgarde Music/Wounded Love Records.
Originally intended as a stylistic pointer towards the band's debut full-length, this raw, otherworldly and enthralling piece turned out to be GODKILLER's final contribution to the realm of pure Black Metal.
For those interested in the latest musical evolution of Duke Satanaël, be sure to check out the eerie post-Punk/goth-Electronica of his current project, A PRAYER FOR THE WORST.
COINCIDING WITH THE TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF GODKILLER’S FINAL FULL-LENGTH ALBUM OF DARK METAL WITH INDUSTRIAL & ELECTRONIC ELEMENTS.
Formati nel 1993 a Monaco, i GODKILLER sono stati il frutto della visione del polistrumentista e fondatore Duke Satanaël, che tra il 1996 e il 2000 ha pubblicato un EP e due album, a partire dal cult classico black metal “The Rebirth Of The Middle Ages”.
