SOLSTAFIR
I Blodi og Anda

Double CD in Jewel case with 12-page booklet.

SÓLSTAFIR have come a long way from an obscure Black Metal band out of Reykjavik, Iceland to a musically mindboggling and unique mixture of dark Metal, psychedelic passions and an eerily rocking groove – beloved and praised by critics and fans alike.
This band’s journey started in the year 1994 and continuously meandered into something that their many die hard adherents describe as ‘extremely cool’ and ‘different’, now the quartet’s burgeoning creativity has been bubbling up like a hot geyser unleashing their breathtaking double album “Svartir Sandar”, which takes the metamorphosis of these individualists close to perfection.
This eagerly awaited masterpiece comes with a red hot passion like glowing magma and emotionality as stormy as the Northern Atlantic. Ride this volcano with Iceland’s gnarled and twisted cowboys of Rock and Metal!

For fans of ENSLAVED, AMON AMARTH, ELUVEITIE.

Transparent red 12" double vinyl (33 rpm) in deluxe gatefold printed on the rough side of the board.
Limited to 300 copies worldwide!

Originally released in 2002, ‘Í Blóði Og Anda’ (meaning 'In Blood and Spirit') is the long-lost debut album from Iceland's SOLSTAFIR.
A far cry from the refined and expressive post-rock of 2011's 'Svartir Sandar', ‘Í Blóði Og Anda’ is unique and primitive black metal (in the vein of early ENSLAVED).
The album went out-of-print almost immediately upon its release, and has been out of circulation ever since. Now remastered, repackaged, ‘Í Blóði Og Anda’ is a definitive snapshot that exposes the earliest roots of this incredible band.

For fans of ENSLAVED, BARONESS, MASTODON, AGALLOCH, LONGDISTANCECALLING, PRIMORDIAL.

SÓLSTAFIR are not like any other band. Their sixth album 'Berdreyminn' underscores this statement. As its title "a dreamer of forthcoming events" aptly describes, the four Icelanders have taken their already impressive evolution one step further. The band has continued to amalgamate haunting melodies, psychedelic phases, as well as strong undercurrents of classic rock and hard rock with echoes of their metal past. Yet SÓLSTAFIR's focus is not on style but pure emotion. 'Berdreyminn' is eclectic by a conscious choice to make feelings audible and transform taste as well as texture to sound. Genre borders are not broken but simply ignored. Musical influences are gathered from a wide range of sources, re-arranged, and woven into new patterns. Melancholy, longing, anger, joy, pleasure, pain, and other emotions are fuelling & fulling this album.

Music will always be inspired by the environment in which it is created.
With its incredible array of highly diverse landscapes ranging from white glaciers via volcanic bizarreness, moss-green bubble-fields, deep fjords, and frost-cracked mountains to black beaches, Iceland has shaped a host of astonishingly original in SÓLSTAFIR.

More than ever, SÓLSTAFIR’s new opus ‘Endless Twilight of Codependent Love’ highlights the contrasting influences that have inspired the band over the years. Whether you’re listening to the black metal infused “Dionysus”, “Her Fall From Grace”, the gracious song “Til Modar” or a straightforward SÓLSTAFIR masterpiece “Akkeri”, the Icelanders have mastered all these elements and blended it seamlessly into one record.

Hin helga kvöl (The Holy Suffering) is a profound exploration of raw emotion and stark beauty, deeply inspired by Sólstafir’s cultural heritage and Iceland's breathtaking landscapes. Sólstafir, meaning "crepuscular rays" in Icelandic, refers to sunlight piercing through dark clouds at dusk, capturing the essence of Hin helga kvöl, a beacon of hope shining through the heaviest of times. Sólstafir confronts inner demons and transcends rock and roll decadence, creating music that resonates with the universal struggle and triumph over hardship. Recorded at Flóki Studios in the remote Skagafjörður, Iceland, the change of scenery has profoundly influenced the album's atmosphere. Hin helga kvöl features eight tracks blending Sólstafir's signature melancholic sound with elements from their past, merging black metal roots with tuneful, anthemic rock. Reflecting on the album's title, Tryggvason shares: "We all suffer in life, and even nature suffers. It can be found in religion and spirituality as well. Hin helga kvöl means 'The Holy Suffering,' representing the struggle we all face." The album’s stunning cover art by Rowan E Cassidy, featuring charcoal shadows, perfectly illustrates the emotional depth and breathtaking altitudes of Hin helga kvöl. Tryggvason describes the music with one word: "alone," capturing the essence of Sólstafir's unfiltered and ardently emotional sound. Sólstafir’s music is shaped by diverse influences, including Black Metal, Classic Rock, Post-Rock, Punk, and the stark beauty of Icelandic nature, crafting a unique sound all of their own. Hin helga kvöl promises to be a bright, shining milestone in Sólstafir’s illustrious career, illuminating the path from darkness to light. This November, let that undiluted haunting beauty and spiritual raw power of Hin helga kvöl run free in your mind. Suffering has never felt this enlightening. The album is available as: Ltd.
