Kubusschnitt, born in 1999, is a real electronic-music band in the Berlin School style which, over time, has involved several musicians from the UK, Belgium, Germany and Holland. A Kosmische-musik all-stars band!
The beauty of being a band is being together and sharing ideas, experiences, inspiration and, of course, a few beers at the pub. Traveling, playing and celebrating successes on stage together (or drowning failures in alcohol): there is nothing more fun than going on tour with the band!
Kubuscchnitt, over the years, have played several concerts and tasted life on the road; "Continuous Forms" tape is a small testimony because it only collects live songs from the band: raw and punk stuff (never printed in official albums ) that we love precisely for its dirty and lived-in look.
It’s a great pleasure for us to introduce an Italian cosmic courier named ROBERT KALYOS. Robert lives in Verona, northern Italy, but his true home is deep space: certainly the intergalactic space that hides the mysteries of life and death, but also the infinite and equally mysterious space of human interiority (Ballard's “Inner space”).
Tangerine Dream wrote in the liner notes of their album "Alpha Centaury" (1971): "Dedicated to all people who feel obliged to space". We are sure that Robert feels himself among the people Edgar Froese was referring to.

"At the borders of Orion" is a collection of five tracks inspired by the masters of electronic music of the past such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder and, of course, Tangerine Dream.
Robert's music, with its strong synthesizers and nocturnal atmospheres, transports us to the dystopian visions of the great dark sci-fi writers of the past: Philip K. Dick, Robert Silverberg, John Shirley, Bruce Sterling; the title of this cassette (and of the track) is a tribute to “Blade Runner” and to the famous monologue of the replicant Roy Batty: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears... in... rain. Time to die".
After the success of "Starcity" (HDK 91), Andy Bloyce returns to the HDK catalog with a new monumental collection of songs entitled "Vostok-1". In the background, as always, the utopian dimension and the crude reality of the Soviet Space Program; the dreams, the anguish and the exploits of men launched towards the unknown, towards the mysteries of deep space and those of human existence.
If you have loved the sidereal rides contained in "Starcity", you will go crazy for this new album: an abundant hour of cosmic music in its most noble and crystalline form. Pure kosmische poetry!
In September 1986, the first comic book dedicated to the character of Tomas Caine was released; it was entitled "La Pastorale del Destino" (The Pastoral of Doom). It could have been one of the many comic books that filled the shelves of the Italian newsstands of those years, but it wasn't like that: the success of Tom Caine was extraordinary.
Balancing horror atmospheres typical of the time, irreverent irony, and love stories, Tomas Caine immediately met the tastes of the young Italians of the 80s. The texts by the late Mino Camogli were modern and full of expressions in vogue among young people, and the drawings by Steno Artebagni were dark and innovative compared to the boring standards of the Italian comics of previous years.

In 1989 Docuvideo TV bought the rights to make a television drama starring Tomas Caine: a pilot episode was made, which aired in February 1990. Tony Soragna was chosen to play the role of the main character, coming from the success of some soap operas. Other actors in this episode were Margò Ramponi, Alexander Sarth, and Alfio Martinez.
Despite the excellent acting performance of Tony Soragna and the expert direction of Pio Malagutti, the script did not meet the tastes of the audience and was harshly criticized by Mino Camogli, the creator of Tomas Caine, who disavowed the project. Because of all this, no further episodes of the series were filmed and the project was shelved.

However, among the most interesting things about that TV movie, there was the soundtrack by the Serbian experimental composer Ivan Ristic, credited as RIS.
In Italy, the Berlin School style of Electronic Music has found poor diffusion in the '70s; few were the musicians who have followed the German cosmic way: surely the most important among them was Baffo Banfi, keyboardist of the prog-band "Biglietto per l'Inferno" and author of beautiful albums with funny titles such as "Galaxy my dear" (1978) and "Ma, Dolce Vita" (1979), that we recommend everyone to listen to.
It’s a pleasure to meet today in Italy new disciples of the cosmic couriers such as Piero Monachello aka ALLUSTE, who has offered his interpretation of the classic EM style in numerous albums composed from 2008 to date. Piero learns from the masters (Jean Michael Jarre, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Ashra...), but reworks their music with originality and personality, through an all-Italian sensibility: in Alluste's songs you can in fact perceive the bittersweet melodies typical of Italo-disco and the Mediterranean atmosphere of the great songwriter Pino Mango, one of the most refined and original representatives of Italian pop music of the 80s and 90s.
Alluste's music takes us to melancholic desert beaches, torrid unreal scenarios where the horizon is eternally blue and infinite, scenarios that bring to mind the stories of James G. Ballard as "The Terminal Beach" or "The Cage...

Gnoll is back!
As kids obsessed with Dungeons & Dragons, the members of the GNOLL ensemble played intensely "The Lost City" by Tom Moldvay, one of the first and unforgettable adventure modules produced by TSR for D&D; after 30 years those same kids have rekindled their torches and returned to the dungeon of the Lost City to explore it through their synthesizers!
The result is this stately album, where classic dungeon-synth meets soundtracks from old adventure movies to transport the listener into a vortex of Lovecraftian mysteries and epic feats.
Welcome to an enchanted land where everything is strange and mysterious. The songs on this cassette are ancient incantations that make us travel back in time to our childhood, when music was a daydream and everyday life a strange adventure.
There's something arcane and primal in the tinkling of notes here: in the lo-fi ohms of tracks like "Holy Smoke" and "Field," in the twilight pace of "Bell Tower" or in the epic broomstick space ride of "A castle at the heart of an asteroid field."
The music of the Bulbils is a childhood game: there are no tricks, there are no camouflages. Just two people playing and having fun doing it: Richard and Sally dealt with the lockdown of the first wave of Covid-19 by recording some music every day. The result of those captive recording sessions has been divided into an unspecified number (tending to hundreds) of albums released on Bandcamp. A dusty tape full of creaks, hisses and squeaks swooped down at HDK headquarters a while ago. Its author, one who calls himself "the Prince of Darkness" (sic), remains a mystery. On the tape minimal sounds, limping scores, silences full of anguished expectation, short instrumental excerpts that have the flavor of foggy and humid winter evenings, of the soil of ancient cemeteries, of loneliness, of putrefaction and decay.
HDK has delighted and entertained you with orchestral soundtracks, accompanied by grandiloquent arrangements, told you about epic feats and made you live "cinematic" experiences... but after all... the true spirit of the dungeon-synth, its raw and crystalline essence, lies in records like this one, which we could define - a bit hastily - naive, but which in the end overwhelm you with their evocative force.

Among the most popular italian pulp magazines was the horror series "I Racconti di Dracula" (Tales of Dracula) published by Baron Cantarella: each issue of "I Racconti di Dracula" contained a grim and disturbing story, inspired by Italian gothic and giallo cinema, written by anonymous, non-professional authors, who typed in the evening after work to supplement their salary. The mainstream culture branded those publications as "garbage” and they were banned to those under 18.
In the 1980s, after the series had closed due to poor sales, someone came up with the idea of making a television adaptation of "I Racconti di Dracula". Docuvideo TV participated in a consortium of local TV networks that wanted to finance the production. Unfortunately, due to economic problems, the project did not succeed: what remains are the scripts and the soundtracks composed by the maestro Denti di Vetro (TEETH OF GLASS).
HDK, in its series called "Morbid tales", proposes (in episodes) the "I Racconti di Dracula" soundtracks by TEETH OF GLASS, attaching to the cassette a booklet with the complete scripts. Here is the fifth episode, "PLANILUNIO DI MORTE" ("Fullmoon of Death"): ancient rivalries between wealthy Scottish families against the backdrop of a morbid ghost story, where the protagonists are on the brink of insanity.

ξόρκι, the author of the soundtrack, tried to enclose in the songs the sick state of mind of the film, where liters of blood and violence flow, where everything takes place in disturbing sequences bordering on the snuff movie.

We immediately fell in love with Steven Grace's music: music composed with intelligence, well focused on the emotions it wants to convey, careful in the choice of sounds... When we asked to introduce himself to the HDK audience, Steven did so with the sense of proportion that distinguishes his style: “I've been making electronic music since 1990. My first two albums were privately distributed as homemade cassettes to friends, but since then I've released nine albums via the internet. My main project has been LOGIC GATE, for music in the “Berlin School” style, but I've also released instrumental electronic music of various styles under my own name, plus one album under the project name WOGGLEFOLD.
