The self-titled album by Atlantic Ridge is an exploration of remote lands and forgotten geographies,
on the thin border between reality and myth. Blending elements of atmospheric black metal and
funeral doom metal passages, the record evokes alternatively rich atmospheres and desolate
soundscapes.
Across its tracks, “Atlantic Ridge” describes incredible places, surrounded by a sense of mystery, like a utopian journey through time and space. Music-wise, highly atmospheric black metal riffs collide with violent yet melodic slowdowns, framed by a constant sense of awe and detachment. While rooted in the extremity of underground metal, the album recalls the immersive spirit of bands like Wolves in the Throne Room or Altar of Plagues, combined with the majestic heaviness of early Ahab.
Recorded in Italy between 2019 and 2024, “Atlantic Ridge” represents both a physical and spiritual journey: a descent into the unknown, chasing the idea of reaching to the world’s farthest edges.

The album "Unholy Black Splendor" marks the return of MERCYLESS in 2014 and the return to the roots of Death Metal with well-assimilated wild Floridian influences (Obituary, Morbid Angel or Massacre) but which could just as easily be associated with the cavernous and equally "evil" ones of the Dutch band Pestilence or the German band Morgoth.
This album also remains marked by technical and dense compositions worthy of Death and vicious riffs which look towards powerful and fast thrash reminding us of a certain Possessed.
