The long work is coming to an end: Italian/Polish black metal band Amalekim, with a new line-up, is ready to reveal their latest work, Avodah Zarah. 

Once again, the ultimate aim is to question all that is sacred and all that is profane in this age of ours. Avodah Zarah contains many influences and many different experiences, both on a musical and a personal level, seeking to present itself as something new in the purest tradition of the genre. With this work, Amalekim decisively turn over a new leaf compared to their previous work, HVHI, with conceptual and musical maturity, seeking to maintain the melodic aspects that distinguish them, implemented by dissonances and greater compositional complexity.

Avodah Zarah revolves around the concept of the inversion of values, taking much from the Old Testament tradition, occultism and alchemy, always in an attempt to bring to the ears and eyes (starting from the cover) of the listeners an ever-present revolt, but without the obviousness and generality that too often mark today's world.

Australian experimental metal band Bolt Gun return with their 3rd full length album The Tower. Since their first release in 2014, Bolt Gun have continued to push the boundaries of heavy music, adopting a semi-improvised style that combines elements of black metal, post-metal, noise and dark ambient. 

The Tower is inspired by the literary works of Brian Evenson, Franz Kafka and Shirley Jackson and explores themes of isolation, extinction, absurdity and nihilism. Written throughout 2020 to 2022, the album expands on Bolt Gun’s interest in the dynamic possibilities of using ambient music within extreme metal.

The expansive tracks pull listeners into tornadoes of drone, noise and saxophone which then explode into more post-metal/black metal sounds. The music on The Tower is heavily influenced by 2nd wave black metal, experimental heavy bands such as Locrian and Swans in addition to the work of Colin Stetson and Bohren & der Club of Gore.

"When I first went into the studio for the REQVIEM Album I was about 20 years old living in Medellín city in the 80s. Medellín is the second most important city of Colombia; by that time, a place full of hate with this bitter taste on the air, reflection of what Death used to leave behind it's continuous presence in the streets and neighborhoods of the city. A huge percentage of Medellin's society was the result of poverty, lack of opportunities and the everlasting misery, a situation that soon was seen by the drug cartels as way of grow by imposing its own law and rules under the flag of dirty money while the government blind, deaf, and corrupt wasn't and still not a part of the solution for the current and upcoming generations.

Since then a tremendous passion for Metal Music has been living inside me.

BullMetal and I were making our dream come true. Without knowing we were creating one of the most iconic metal albums, not only here in Colombia but in South America and Worldwide as well.
