Olde Throne is a melodic and atmospheric black metal band born in a time when main composer and frontman Harrison McKenzie was living in Glencoe, Scotland. Even after moving back to his native New Zealand, McKenzie felt deeply inspired by his experience in the highlands, and this project was the result of such inspiration. Olde Throne released two studio albums under this monicker, An Gorta Mór (2022) and In the Land of Ghosts (2023). Two years later, the man from Christchurch signs with Italian long-standing label Avantgarde Music to release their third full-length album, Megalith.
Two years in its creation, Megalith is a primal journey into the depths of prehistory. Where previous albums explored the strife of 19th-century Ireland (An Gorta Mór) and the spectral lore of 17th- and 18th-century Scotland (In the Land of Ghosts), Megalith delves into the primordial darkness of the Neolithic age. Drawing inspiration from stories of Celtic mythology, the album’s narrative is rooted in tales dating back as far as 10,000 BC. The use of flutes, throat singing and tribal drums forges an immersive brand of Neolithic Black Metal.

Beholder is a Québécois black metal band born in 2016. The quintet released an EP in 2019, Ancien Monde, and their debut album, Arcane Subreptice, was featured as one of the best metal releases on Bandcamp in 2022. Two years later, Beholder inks a deal with Avantgarde Music to release their sophomore record, Dualisme, an opus the band themselves describe as a huge improvement on their already solid foundations.
Dualisme is a 35-minute assault of aggressive, up-tempo black metal with melodic, doomy passages which deeply contribute to its overall atmosphere. Beholder singer, Mécréant (Saccage, Sulfure), screams his lungs out in French, keeping the true spirit from Québec aflame. The album production is intended to be powerful and massive, yet preserving an organic and raw feel to it.

Weary of earthly life, Deliverance sets out to explore the farthest reaches of the universe with a new album whose title sounds like an invitation to interstellar travel: The Voyager Golden Banquet.
Formed in 2013 by Etienne Sarthou (guitar, Karras, ex-AqME, Freitot) and Pierre Duneau (vocals & keyboards, ex-Memories of a Dead Man), the band released their first EP (Doomsday Please), followed by their debut album CHRST on the Deadlight label. But it was truly with their second and third albums that Deliverance established themselves as a cornerstone of the French avant-garde metal scene. Titled Holocaust 26:1-46 (2020) and Neon Chaos in a Junk-Sick Dawn (2022), these two landmark releases earned widespread acclaim from the specialist press (including Album of the Month and two full four-page features in Rock Hard, 8/10 in New Noise, plus interviews and glowing reviews in numerous French and international metal webzines and media). The albums also secured the band performing slots at prestigious festivals such as Hellfest 2022 (Temple Stage), Motocultor 2023 (Main Stage), Post in Paris 2022, Lions Metal Fest 2023, Rise & Fall 2023, and Tyrant Fest 2023.
Now signed to the esteemed label Les Acteurs de l’Ombre since their third album, this fourth opus (set for release on 22 May 2026) sees the band break free from all artistic and musical boundaries. While Deliverance’s black metal/sludge DNA remains intact, it is now confronted with elements of post-rock and progressive rock, Floydian psychedelia, and even contemporary indie rock/electro — all previously uncharted territory in this musical sphere.
The Voyager Golden Banquet invites the listener to leave Earth and its landmarks to lose themselves in the labyrinth of the vast unknown. A journey by turns tumultuous, unsettling, even terrifying, but also soothing and luminous. A space odyssey that paints a more cinematic sonic landscape than ever before.
If Neon Chaos was a cathartic and oppressive album, this new release reflects artists in search of an inner peace that can only be found by embarking on an all-or-nothing adventure. A quest for light with no possibility of return.

ENDLYSET is a new black metal band from Sweden. Their debut EP, Tusen År, was released digitally in 2020, and the follow-up, Beholders is now ready. Five tracks of apocalyptic, yet atmospheric black metal that both incorporate clean vocals and keyboards without losing that original swedish touch. The LP includes the title track from the Tusen År EP as bonus.
Among the most beloved and revered acts within the atmospheric metal field, Australia's MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY is back with “Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb”, the second part of a trilogy started in 2019 with “Biolume Part 1: In Tartarean Chains.” The new album explores the themes of the sun, set within the context of classical mythology and in continuation from its predecessor.
“Whereas the first part was very much about creating one’s own light in the deepest tracts of darkness, the second part is about being confronted and embraced by nothing but light,” explains sole member Dis Pater. “The sun, Sol Invictus, Helios, the eye of Zeus (including his sister, Eos or Aurora, the dawn) are the light giving and all-seeing purveyors of the day.”
Featuring once again a sumptuous cover painting by Elijah Tamu, “The Golden Orb” tells the story of being exposed to the majestic and searing power of starlight, a burning and unbearable heat, like being chained in a desert. “Like our hot Australian summers,” Dis Pater continues, “it’s a harsh and uncomfortable place of being that brings to mind stories of the desert in ancient near-Eastern mythology and literature. And atop on his golden chariot is the Sun God himself, punishing with heat and thirst, drought and drying winds.”
Musically this is a different style to previous MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY releases. This time Dis Pater's main influences came from the epic heavy metal and doom of bands like SCALD and SOLSTICE (UK), but also from medieval music (such as chant, troubadour and trouveres music) and military style battle horns, with a dose of viking-era BATHORY.

Definitely the most unusual release in the whole Sivyj Yar’s discography with Novgorod gusli being the main instrument.
The artist defines this album as 'neo-medieval nocturnes' and dedicates it to Yuri Mirolyubov (1892-1970), the discoverer (well, most likely, the Author) of the mysterious 'Book of Veles', literally the main influence on the Eastern European paganism revival.

Please note, if you are an Avantgarde Music Circle of Wax subscriber, this release is a part of bundle #3 (February bundle)
