No rest for one of Britain’s most melancholic exports: Just half a year after MY DYING BRIDE returned from their break with their haunting and successful masterpiece »The Ghost Of Orion«, the sons of Halifax raise the curtains to the »Macabre Cabaret«.
The new EP of the band offers three new songs – dark luscious Death Doom ear candies that will dive their victim into a sensual world of darkness and temptation and conceal the borders between sweet pain and destructive illusion.
The Barghest O’ Whitby - a 27 minute epic from 2011 - represents the epitome of My Dying Bride’s unique combination of poetic grace, funereal soundscapes and Doom Metal.
A masterful blend of pounding guitar riffs, and sombre atmospheric passages, the track takes you through the chilling tale of a supernatural entity hell bent on revenge.
Recorded at Futureworks Studios, Manchester with long-time production partner and engineer, Mags, the release was the first to feature violin/keyboardist Shaun Macgowan, and saw the return of Shaun "Winter" Taylor-Steels to the drum-stool.
Vinyl edition featuring the original artwork by vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe.
"A new album for a new era of MY DYING BRIDE with fresh faces and a more accessible style compared to some of their past, highly technical releases. 'The Ghost of Orion' features compositions not only of epic proportions but of intimate quality too, from death metal vocals to the pained cries of a vocalist in longing, the L.P. will raise and fall like the beautiful landscape of Yorkshire in which it was recorded. With layer upon layer of guitars both heavy and harmonic, Andrew Craighan has created a rich soundscape that is beautifully epic, enhanced with violins and keys from Shaun MacGowan along with the ominous murmur of cello from acclaimed cellist Jo Quail. And speaking of guest artists, the wondrous voice of Lindy-Fay Hella (WARDRUNA) adds an ethereal beauty to the album. Adding his particular style of drumming this time round is Jeff Singer whose percussion exploits have elevated the bands’ rhythm section to another level aided by the effortlessly stylish Lena Abe on bass guitar. Aaron Stainthorpe delivers a compelling and often disturbing performance with his own particular style of vocals offering sincere eulogies along with the visceral carnage of a soul in pain, with poetic lyrics of a quality not often seen in this genre. This collection of songs is the bands most brilliant yet, honing 30 years of experience into the well crafted offering that is 'The Ghost of Orion'.

DYING BRIDE'S CLASSIC 1996 SHOW FROM KRAKOW, POLAND
My Dying Bride has been the leading light of doom metal since the debut album ‘As The Flower Withers’ was released on Peaceville Records back in 1992. Influenced by acts such as Celtic Frost and Candlemass, the British band’s heavy atmospherics have carved a huge worldwide following over the years to stand as one of the true enduring and distinguishable pillars of the genre.
'For Darkest Eyes' contains the band’s iconic 1996 performance from Krakow, Poland, featuring numerous classic doom anthems from the early career of the UK Metal Gods. The show was filmed as the band was riding a wave of popularity due to their recent breakthrough third album, 'The Angel & the Dark River' (plus their tour with British metal legends Iron Maiden in the winter of 1995), showcasing several tracks from that release such as 'The Cry of Mankind' and 'Your Shameful Heaven', as well as renditions of other established numbers such as 'The Crown of Sympathy' and 'The Forever People'.
