Pale Awakening is the debut album by The Frozen Autumn, which originally saw the light in 1995 following the demotape Oblivion and various live gigs in Italy and abroad. These led to the CD release of this concept album with crepuscular sounds, at times inspired by the sound of 4AD and Projekt Records.
Ten pieces that unfold between reflective and atmospheric moments, imbued with melancholy with more rhythmic openings, yet always characterized by a common feature: the oniric plane, the certainty of the existence of parallel realities, the escape from everyday life to embark on an inner journey, aware that "there is something beyond".
27 years after the first edition, Avantgarde Music re-releases Pale Awakening in two valuable collectible formats: 12 "colored double vinyl in a gatefold cover with lyrics, and digipak CD with booklet containing pictures, verses and bonus tracks.

Slovak quintet Aeon Winds is back with a new offering to the altar of atmospheric black metal: three years after the acclaimed Stormveiled, the Bratislava-based band is about to release their new EP, Extinguishing The Light.

Lys is the mastermind of Enisum, the well-known Italian atmospheric black metal band. After focusing on his main band for over a decade, the time came for the musician from Val di Susa to temporarily focus on something different. Here comes Silent Woods, Lys first solo album, a mélange of atmospheric black metal, acoustic music, nature, landscapes, mountains, rivers and forests.
Similar to yet different from his main musical endeavours, Silent Woods shows a varied sound palette, with the usual Enisum references (Agalloch, Wolves In The Throne Room and the Pacific Northwestern scene) and some twists. Acoustic guitars and clean vocals find their way in, and so do more extreme elements, such as gurgling screams and hypnotic, circular guitar riffs with clear depressive black metal references (Xasthur, Leviathan and the likes).
Come join Lys in his new venture through the woods of Northwestern Italy. Avantgarde Music will take you to the Alps on October 29th.

It is a journey of mourning through the ruins of abandonded dreams and aspirations. This record is an homage to a romantaicized past as much as it is a rejection of its glorification.
As with previous Windfaerer releases this record was a collaborative effort. Each member brought their own influences, perspectives and compositions and forged them into the spirit of the band. Extensive attention to detail was paid to all of the sonic elements—from the mic placements to the string orchestrations—in an effort to create a towering and expansive sound. Sorrow-laden melodies spiral through rugged, mountainous song structures in a synthesis of vulnerability and power. Breaths of Elder Dawns is a journey through aesthetic desolation and saudade. Spanish doom/post-metal quintet Ikarie is back with their sophomore album Arde, two years after the acclaimed debut Cuerpos En Sombra. Here is how the band introduces their work…
“If Cuerpos En Sombra was about pain, Arde is about transformative rage. In the first part we presented a series of characters and desolate places, with bodies and souls sunk in misery and mud, of ghosts who are victims but are not aware of the fact that they are being victims.
In this part of the trilogy that doesn’t happen, although the denunciation and lamentation is maintained, it is no longer spoken of the land in that sense but of burning everything for a new beginning, from that fire, so deep and painful, which hanges the shape of things, like magma and the creation of stars, like a collision of planets, there is no way back after that.
With the advice of a forensic psychologist and criminologist, we have selected passages from history, victims and paradigmatic and tremendous characters that exemplify Hannah Arendt’s concept of the “banality of evil” properly, because as a society we are part of it, and therefore, it is a call to revolution.”
