Northern Silence

On his debut album "Sovereign", Scottish musician and songwriter Tom Perrett set out to compose music purely to taste. Drawing from the vast well of history, culture and mythology, Tom created an unmistakable atmosphere of proud and powerful Scottish Black Metal with the beating heart of old school Black Metal favourites of his, such as WINDIR, BATHORY, BURZUM & more, which should also appeal to fans of SAOR, WINTERFYLLETH, PANOPTICON and similar acts. 

Emily Highfield’s one woman project Suldusk has woven the acoustic tones of Dark/Neo Folk with elements of Post Rock and Atmospheric Black Metal to create a powerful panorama of shimmering guitars, haunting melodies and atmospheric density on her debut album “Lunar Falls”. 

The album’s undercurrent theme is about living on the margins, and the intolerable suffering and sacrifice in the quest for identity. Nature provides much of the lyrical inspiration as the source of refuge and guidance throughout this quest. It is dedicated to the memory of Aleah Starbridge. “The Elm” is an adaptation of Aleah’s and Juha Raivio’s song “Sinking Ships”.

The new album shows Nasheim from a more matured and contemplative side. The harsh Black Metal outbreaks are not altogether gone but they do leave more room for quieter parts where violin, cello and even the occasional clean vocals are allowed to take center stage. Still, the music is immediately recognizable as Nasheim, so unique has the sound become at the very least since "Solens Vemod".

Jegzivatar is the solo project of Adrian Penzes from Hungary. 

"Misanthropia" features 20 minutes of Melodic/Atmospheric Black Metal that does not rely on heavy use of keyboards like many other bands these days, but takes its main strength from the fantastic guitar work and varied songwriting that makes each song unique and immediately recognizable. 

Sung entirely in Hungarian, many fans of Finnish Black Metal will notice the strong similarities of the Hungarian language to Finnish, so this EP should appeal to fans of guitar-oriented Melodic/Atmospheric Black Metal in general as well as Finnish and of course Hungarian Black Metal in particular.

With the second album, Can Bardd take a huge step forward from the already very good debut album. Improved songwriting as well as an excellent production this time around solidify the Can Bardd's ambition to stand proudly in the Atmospheric Black Metal olymp alongside bands like Caladan Brood, Summoning, Sojourner, Elderwind, Eldamar or Pure Wrath.

Malist, a newcomer solo project from Russia, plays Melodic Black Metal in the tradition of the 90s classics as well as certain contemporary acts from Finland or Poland.

The newcomer TOGETHER TO THE STARS is a two-man project from Sweden, playing Depressive/Post-Black Metal, recommended for fans of Heretoir, Anomalie, Amesoeurs or Harakiri For The Sky.

Annorkoth was the project of B.M. before he founded Skyforest, mostly focusing on Atmospheric/Depressive Black Metal, but also incorporating other styles, such as Neo-Classic and Post Rock/Shoegaze. Inspirations came from the beauty of nature, depression and melancholy. The project was active from 2010 until 2013.

"The Last Days" is the final album of Annorkoth, originally released on CDr in 2013 in an edition of only 100 copies.

Forlorn Citadel is an Atmospheric Black Metal project from Australia, formed in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist Solace.

Originally conceived as a Medieval/Dungeon Synth style project, a short demo entitled “Dusk” was released in the early months of 2017.

The addition of traditional Black Metal elements on the 2018 demo “Mourning” solidified a more defined sound of which Solace wishes to expand upon.

Forlorn Citadel is currently working on a debut album with plans to release in 2019.

Cosmic Autumn is a one-man project from Germany, founded in 2017.

Based on traditional and atmospheric Black Metal, the music also features elements of Progressive Metal and Epic Doom Metal.

Inspired by long walks through the forest at night, lyric themes are the transcendence of the human psyche, loneliness, self-reflection and the nihilistic nature of reality.

Though only 40 minutes in length, their third LP explores far more hopeful territory, deeply rooted in post-rock and orchestral influences. Apart from the harrowing, tormented shrieking vocals, little to no black metal influences remain from their previous releases. It instead features majestic and hopeful refrains, wonderfully evocative progressions, and angelic, delicate atmospheres. The by-product is a captivating new sound that may be completely unique to the genre.

Formed in September 2011, Vallendusk is a four-piece Epic/Melodic Black Metal band hailingfrom Jakarta, Indonesia. In April 2012, a self-titled EP was released under Pest Productions,receiving good responses from listeners and critics alike. A year later, the band’s debutfull length “Black Clouds Gathering” was released, resulting in a huge feedback and interest from all over the world.
Two years after the widely praised “Black Clouds Gathering”, the band will unleash their
2nd full length effort, entitled “Homeward Path”, in June 2015. The new album comprises
a more complex and dynamic sound yet retaining soul and character as its predecessors.
