DEPARTURE CHANDELIER
Dripping Papal Blood

***Dripping Papal Blood is the secret unreleased second demo recorded a decade ago in 2010, in the band’s now shuttered ‘The Prisoner’s Chant…’ studio which rested at ground level across from the oldest cemetery in New York and rumored to be haunted.
This demo brings to life the complex and fierce rivalry between Emperor Napoleon and the Pope Pius VII. Napoleon went as far as to have Pope Pius VII placed in confinement. Despite the Antichrist’s repugnancy of the papacy, Napoleon knew he still needed the symbolic authority of the church during his unprecedented self-coronation (referred to by the band as ‘ascension to accipitridae!’—the classification of predatory birds of prey).
With the appointment of the cruel Cardinal Fesch (a relative of the emperor) after the Antichrist’s coup d’etat of 18 brumaire, Napoleon gave Fesch orders to persuade the pope to attend Napoleon’s coronation, only later to be stripped of religious power and cast out of the diocese upon defiance of Napoleon’s inflexible attitude toward the church. Fesch later died in Rome surrounded by his masterpiece art collection rumored to be pillaged and later bequeathed in his will.
Always through the lens of black metal and Nostradamus’ prediction of the arrival of the Antichrist, Dripping Papal Blood intrudes into the interplay and triple-crossing corruption between Napoleon, the Church and his own art-plundering family members appointed through nepotism to the diocese.

BLACK CRUCIFIXION
The Fallen One Of Flames / Satanic Zeitgeist

Finnish legends BLACK CRUCIFIXION return to the temporal realm with the reissue of The Fallen One of Flames / Satanic Zeitgeist. Active in the legendary early 90s Finnish black metal scene, Black Crucifixion shares many of the hallmarks of their Northern peers while establishing a distinct manifestation of their own black death art. A sinister atmosphere breathes through these arcane recordings, coupling plodding and torturous doom with disgusting bestial Satanic worship. Whispered vocals provide a truly unnerving aura with few parallels in black metal beyond their allies Beherit. These two cults share more than just an aesthetic sensibility, as these recordings feature SADOMATIC SLAUGHTER on drums. The Fallen One of Flames demo is a stunning example of the irreplicable black magic conjured during the era in which it was recorded. Satanic Zeitgeist documents a live performance in Oulo in 1991, pairing their raw hymns with two covers of Venom and Sarcofago. The lineage from these early gods to the era of Black Crucifixion is clear to see, and they prove themselves to be more than worthy heirs to this canonized lineage. Requisite listening to those who worship Beherit, Barathrum, and all Northern cults who coat the mind in darkness. This is the first time these two recordings have been released together on one vinyl record. Comes on 180 gram heavy vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with an A4 booklet featuring liner notes, rare photos, and a gig flyer.

ANTEDILUVIAN
The Divine Punishment

Nearly eight years after the release of Antediluvian’s sophomore album, the band returns with a new full-length entitled “The Divine Punishment.” Originally a duo before later inviting additional members into the fold, Antediluvian has always fundamentally been a collaboration between guitarist/vocalist Haasiophis (Black Death Cult, Revenge) and percussionist Mars Sekhmet, whose relocation to Austria precipitated the band’s hiatus. After reforming for a series of live performances, with a lineup that also featured bassist Aedh Zugna (Solar Winds, Allfather), the band set about writing and recording new material culminating in this monumental album. “The Divine Punishment” defies the preconceptions that many listeners might have going into it. Thematically centered around the many manifestations of carnal deviance—pathological, unrestrained, cruel—the album is a contorted rendering of the spirit, once pure, blemished and bespoiled through sexual blasphemy. The recoil of ecstatic release. The organs of reproductive union mutilated, splayed. Unbounded perversion, the primal transgression. Musically, this is the most abstract and experimental release in the band’s catalog but also the most accessible, due in no small part to the album’s production, which is as vital to its power as the songs themselves.

ABIGAIL
Blasphemy Night

Green Vinyl.

Abigail has been a staple in the roster of Nuclear War Now! since its earliest days nearly twenty years ago. In addition to multiple albums and EPs, the label released a collection of early EPs and the band’s contribution to a split, entitled “The Lord of Satan.” Now NWN! and Abigail conspire once again to further proliferate the spread of the band’s earliest material with the release of “Blasphemy Night.” This collection, presented on vinyl LP format, includes both “Demo 1” from 1992 and the “Blasphemy Night” demo from 1993. These tracks document the band’s original sound, which is best characterized as an unpolished, abrasive variety of black metal, in contrast to the sharper, more thrash-oriented sort that has resulted from the band’s evolution. As such, it is an essential addition to any Abigail fan’s collection and, more generally, to anyone who celebrates the true spirit of black metal.

NORMAN SHORES
De L'ombre Surgit La Lumiere

for more than 20 years, French multi-instrumentalist Fog (aka Fog the Necropope) has dedicated himself to an all-consuming pursuit, a creative drive that permeates his existence. Over that time, he has contributed to nearly two-dozen different bands and projects—most commonly as a drummer, but also sometimes vocals, bass, guitar, recording, mixing, mastering, and even artwork—and has released a number of these projects on his own label, Ossuaire Records. Recently, Fog’s work in Cénotaphe, for which he writes and performs all of the music (vocalist Khaosgott supplies the lyrics), has showcased his expansive talent and garnered well-deserved accolades, but Norman Shores remains perhaps his most personal endeavor. The project began in 2011 when, exhausted by the endless creative compromises intrinsic to band settings, Fog desired a creative outlet over which he exercised complete dominion. Born in the Normandy region of France, Fog drew inspiration from the land and the traditional ancient cultures that once flourished there. According to Fog, through Norman Shores he attempts to “sublimate my native Normandy around legends and historical facts” and “describe the dying nature and the decadence of humanity.” Released in 2019, “De l’ombre surgit la lumière,” is the fourth album released under the Norman Shores banner. It is also the most intricate and fully realized album in the catalog, though all of the Norman Shores recordings are spellbinding in their own right. Musically, Fog draws influence from classic second wave Scandinavian black metal bands, weaving together sounds reminiscent of Ulver, Darkthrone, Dissection, Borknagar, and In the Woods, and commingling them with the French influence of Blut Aus Nord and Seigneur Voland. But there is something profoundly unique in Norman Shores, perhaps owing to the wide breadth of Fog’s non-metal influences, including inspiration drawn from literature and film, and the cinematic quality with which he imbues the music.
