Since their inception in 2010, Grá has relentlessly worked to shape their music to be both a perfect example of Swedish black metal and a very personal interpretation of its classic sound. Their new studio album will mark the first cooperation between the band from Stockholm and Avantgarde Music, and we thought best to leave frontman Heljarmadr complete freedom to introduce the opus.

Lycaon is our fourth full length album and ever since we started Grá in 2010, we have been striving for constant evolution, to challenge ourselves as musicians and composers with every release.

Where our last album Väsen was extremely intricate and bombastic, with an "all in" approach to keyboards, orchestral parts, acoustic guitars and choir arrangements, Lycaon is heading in the opposite direction. It has fewer layers and with that, every layer needs to be meticulously measured and well thought out to carry the right atmosphere forward.

Emerging from the burgeoning Ordo Vampyr Orientis circle, black metal entity Bad Manor's energetic and whimsical debut The Haunting weaves a series of dark tales surrounding the band's titular mansion. Inhabited by dark spirits and curses alike, Bad Manor's vision of black metal looks not to grim forests and minimal musical ideas but rather vivid, imagination-driven scenes, curious tales, and sinister, active musical ideas alike. Featuring a paired book illustrated by artist Landis Blair and with stories recounted by the mysterious author and medium Stephen R.C. Sicreeve, The Haunting's multidisciplinary approach to black metal – filled with secrets and hidden passages – is as sprawling and chaotic as the house itself. Originally released in 2014 by Ahdistuksen Aihio and rightfully considered by those in the know as one of the best and most unique Finnish Black Metal recordings made in the '10s, the vinyl version of this masterpiece has been long sold out world-wide.
Pressed onto three sides, the double vinyl is housed in a beautiful gatefold jacket and comes with a 20-page booklet with lyrics.

Like solitarily gazing at the downtown lights of the city at night from the window of a darkened room, “Secret Grief” features the guest talents of vocalist Phil Swanson and Leila Abdul-Rauf on trumpet. The tranquil interlude of “Murmur Of Voices” gives way to the evocative “Unrequited” that begins with a lonely solo guitar before transitioning into a drifting daze of afternoon reverie and subconscious meditation.

Finally comes the album’s epic bookend, sixteen minute closer “Ecstatic Reign.” It features perhaps the album’s heaviest straight doom moments along with the return of Tide Turns Eternal featured guest voices McKenna Rae and Richard Poe. Tomb Mold drummer / throat Max Klebanoff also appears for a shattering back and forth vocal tradeoff with DeTore. The album’s cinematic vision and painstaking colorful detail are fully encompassed bringing this enthralling journey to its enduring peak.

Inverted Matter is a death metal entity born as an evolution of Inverted, a band born in 2007 in the upper Treviso area, in North-eastern Italy. At the end of 2015, parting ways with Alessandro and Enrico Scriminich (guitarist and drummer who went on to form black metal band Gorrch), former Suffocation drummer Mike Smith was recruited to write a new album. At the beginning of 2016 the lineup was completed with the addition of Jason Nealy (Bleeding Eyes) as guitarist and Leonardo “Livio” Langaro (Kani) as studio bassist.

Harbinger is a concept album which focuses entirely on the oldest arthropod ever to exist on Earth, the trilobite. The eight songs Inverted Matter crafted deal with a scientific research that goes from the still unknown origins of the species to their extinction, in a mix of old school and progressive death metal influences. Recorded and mixed by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin at Badrum studio, Harbinger will see the light in late autumn 2022 under Avantgarde Music death metal division, Unorthodox Emanation.
