"... 1996's Triarchy of the Lost Lovers is RC's triumph and masterpiece. It is among the best extreme metal albums every made. Each song strikes a different chord inside the listener, making each song unique in delivery, yet the songs reign in the realm of the album. The drums especially the snare drum hit with a clear resonance. Though the guitars are low tuned for the Death/Black metal genre, they emit sound clearly and in the perfect space inside the open air of the album's production. At times Sakis nearly whispers and can be heard just as well as the loudest guitar. Though Rotting Christ are unquestionably an Extreme Metal group, playing the heaviest on Triarchy is not a primary goal, and hardly a secondary goal. The combination of distinctly heard guitar riffs that have the perfect tone and overdrive and the impeccable melody and sublime guitar harmony throughout makes the album pace at a nearly enchanting speed. Triarchy is one of the best extreme metal albums, and makes the case that this extreme genre of rock can not only be uncompromisingly heavy and brutal, but also uncompromisingly beautiful and artistic...."

"Aelter continue their curious and darkly glorious odyssey with an album brimming with desert drones, ghost-town Morricone, gothic tumbleweeds, blackened Badalamenti, sepulchral lounge music, campfire ballads from the grave, galactic shimmers, ominous swamp waltz and what feels like the black lodge version of John Lurie".

If the caustic vocals weren’t enough of an indicator, lyrics of isolation, tales of scavengers of the waste of humanity, and lamentations of regret might tip you off that there is absolutely nothing uplifting about this album.
While wallowing in despair, you might find the self-referential opening track, the first song released and the album’s strongest track, “Unending Call of Woe” to be a great listen, blending a strong tremolo picked melody with tempo and groove changes that are, dare I say, fun. The speed and higher vocals betray a definite thrashy punk influence that brings something more to the table than your standard black metal fare. The phased guitar lead into in “The Ones We Lost” and the ending riff of “Abject In Defeat” are some other great moments on this record.

LONG-awaited debut album of Greece's DISHARMONY, Goddamn the Sun. DISHARMONY are an often-overlooked entry in the history of Greek black metal. Formed in 1991 but broken up by '95, the band would record three demos and a cult EP on the legendary Molon Lave label. Although DISHARMONY's sound early on slotted well into the classic Hellenic BM paradigm - militant pulse, mystical atmosphere, deep roots in traditional metal - they largely took a more unorthodox approach, touching upon Beheritian weirdness and ritualistic soundscaping, but always with a thoroughly occult aura. Longtime fans of the band, IRON BONEHEAD collected DISHARMONY's old discography together under the title Vade Retro Satana and released it on CD and double-LP formats in 2016, reintroducing the band to old fans as well as younger generations.
