Collection of all the recordings from Maleficarum, the old school Death metal band that I formed in the early 90's.
Maleficarum embodies the spirit of Excidium, the first band of Danny Cinicolo that Despise The Sun has brought back to life with the two "Infecting The Graves" compilation 7 years ago.
The first incarnation of this obscure and evil band was lead also by members of Angel Death and Iconoclast and in their 10 years of activity they published 2 demos and 2 full-lenght with the support of some underground labels.
Oppressive, obscure and malevolent death metal. Vol. 2 features their "Maleficarum" Demo 1997, and "Under the Cross" Full Length 2002,
Tracks 1-4 taken from "Death to Christianity" demo released in 1986.
Tracks 5-10 taken from "Desire for Immortality" demo released in 1991.
Tracks 11-12 taken from "Gore (War of Blood" 7" released in 1992.
Tracks 13-14 taken from "Exorcisin' the Pain" 7" released in 1993.
Track 15 taken from "Screams from Italy" compilation released in 1994.
Tracks 16-18 are 2021 bonus tracks.
Born in 2016 in the sewers of Brno, Czech Republic, Depths Above is one of the underground’s best kept secret. The black metal act conveys the minds of four different individuals coming from different areas and even countries, each one with their own musical background and influences rooted in extreme and obscure music
Now abyssal and then ethereal, with neither boundary nor border: this is Ex Nihilo, a modern black metal album, with a plethora of different influences, from doom and death metal to sludge and post-metal.
Ex Nihilo was originally self-released by Depths Above themselves in 2018 on CD only, in a very limited run, and it never received any further distribution until now. As the band is hard at work on their sophomore album, at the Avantgarde Music hq we believed this stunning work deserved better.
