Bone maniacs UNHOLY IMPURITY style is sinister and ritualistic, reminiscent of the one of first-era Mayhem and Watain, as well as of Marduk and Celestial Bloodshed. There is a certain authenticity, easely perceptible, which directs the conjured sensations towards the very essence of Black Metal, in its dark and ominous spirit. "Oculus Mortis" is old school, raw and straight to the point. The past is alive!
In 2004, inspired by the legend of the "Homo Salvadego" - literally "savage man"; a dialectal name referring to a northern italian alpine legend talking about a half-human, half-animal hybrid - the Italian Black Metal act Homselvareg emerged in northern Italy, between mountains, lakes and forests.
Homselvareg's music is vector of contempt, hatred and venom for the path that humanity choose to take, far away from the spirit and the laws of nature. Musically speaking, the Black Metal of Homselvareg is constallated of excellent melodic-oriented riffs, rhythmically fast and structured upon certain dynamic choices, resulting particularly enjoyable for fans of Spite Extreme Wings, Taake and Dissection.
Originally released by Defiled Records in 1998, "Evanescent, Everfading" was the debut album of Finland based act Fall Of The Leafe. During the first years since their inception in 1996, FotL found their own way of playing black/death metal with folk influences based on guitarist Jussi Hänninen harmonies and Jani Lindström vocals.
The band entered legendary Tico-Tico studios in 1997 to record their first full length and from the Maidenesque opener "The Celestial Keeper" to the closing "Evanescent, Everfading", FotL delivers a 40 minutes unique masterclass of melodic death metal with black feels to take the listener on a journey to enjoy the sweet taste of 90s. Did you say Amorphis or Insomnium? It would be fair saying Fotl set the stage for them.
Two pioneers of the Québec Black Metal scene, Athros (Brume d’Automne, Forteresse) and Monarque (Monarque, Forteresse) revisit the very early days of Black Metal on Sacrenoir’s raging debut album. Falling in somewhere their respective bands and old Darkthrone and Gorgoroth, or even Bathory, Comme des Revenants Parmi les Ruines is cold, raw, classic Black Metal, the likes of which has seldom been heard within the québécois scene. For fans who will never get enough of that early 90s sound, this is an album you cannot afford to miss!
