Synodic's "Omnibus" is a collection and expansion of 2017's "Infinite Presence in a Violent Universe" LP and the "Prodigious" EP. The collection features completed vocals for all tracks on "Prodigious" and a new track called "Beyond the Horizon".
Sometimes all it takes is to be out there. In the misty, cold dark reality and be alone. A suburban street with impotent street lights failing to break through the spell of the fog. A city underpass with the pungent smell of urine the only reminder of other human existence. Or a windswept moor after midnight with owl’s silently devouring rodents and foxes quietly careening past as you realize your own insignificance. In such situations creative sparks are born and the sounds of the Earth reveal themselves. Herr K has clearly been listening, as Fragments Of Silence offers a portal into the eerie, yet unmistakably earthly void. Metamorphoses, was an homage to Kafka and while the bleakness of Fragments…tips a grey, tattered cap in the direction of the great man, it draws greater strength from our existential state and especially from the murky world of nightly dreams. “You are free, and that is why you are lost” Kafka reminds us. But listen closely and you will see yourself in Herr K’s sonic mirror and remember that ‘found and enslaved is no match for ‘lost and free’, especially in a world painted in such a stark, yet enchanting monochrome.

Jordsjø is a duo from Oslo, Norway inspired by old horror movies, German 70s synth music, Swedish prog, fantasy novels and Norwegian nature. After three cassette demos, this is what the band considers to be their first “proper” album. With plenty of nods to older (especially Scandinavian) prog, “Jord” is more solid than the band’s previous releases. There’s an underlying theme of alienation, roots and dreams – with an organic and dynamic sound which gives associations to 70s prog, with traces of electronic music and folk. Plenty of flute, guitars and a vast array of vintage synths gives the album a warm and vintage sound, while still sounding fresh and interesting.
The band consists of multiinstrumentalist Håkon Oftung (Tusmørke, Black Magic) and drummer Kristian Frøland.
Led by visionary musician Trond Engum, composer and guitarist for Norwegian experimental band The 3rd and The Mortal, The Soundbyte is a solo venture intended to pierce the dark heart of avant-garde and experimental metal.
Built almost entirely around Engum’s unique guitar and electronic sound, Hoemsnes’ signature rhythms and haunting and ethereal vocal work The Soundbyte has created what is undoubtedly their finest work to date and 2017’s most progressively breathtaking record. Solidifying the duo’s off-kilter vision for sonic expression and paying painstaking attention to every detail, it is a multifaceted endeavor designed for constant re-visitation and one that will reward listeners time and time again.
2017's The Optimist is Anathema's first album since 2014's spellbinding Distant Satellites and contains the band's darkest, most challenging and unexpected material.
Recorded in Winter 2016 at Attica Studio in Donegal and Castle of Doom Studios in Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals) at the helm. Doogan's influence is instantly tangible as for the first time in years Anathema recorded as a live band for an album, capturing an energy normally only present on stage. A technique that should be welcomed by fans aware of the band's supreme live power - previously captured on the celebrated concert film, Universal.
