Thematically and sonically, BardSpec is about minimising, subtracting and meditating upon the simplest essence of “things”; the single points: exemplified through the song titles, like “Bone”, “Salt” and so on, the basic elements and foundations that make up the whole. There is an element of "space" in the music, and the artwork, as a representation of the inner workings of the mind and the subconscious.

Inspired by the German masters Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, Conrad Schnitzler as well as contemporary ambient music like Norwegian one-man-band Biosphere and abstract modern electronic music like When (Norwegian also), as well as the electronic/industrial-driven metal like Godflesh.

 

THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM is the name of CANDLEMASS mastermind Leif Edling's new band. Formed two years ago in the limbo of a chronic fatigue disease, he has taken the time to write, record and cleverly shape this new beast called THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM
 

Alien World is based on the science fiction novel Solaris by Stanislaw Lem; a 1961 tale that explores the nature of human memory in the context of complex communications between human and non-human life forms. The non-human life form that is at the centre of the story in Alien World is an oceanic planet which is capable of bringing human memories into a physical form. The pelagic themes explored within the music on the album continues into the artwork, which depicts an alternative view of the ocean.

While it is certainly a progression from their debut album, ‘Wounds’ perfects the crushing doom of their previous work. More than ever, bassist/ vocalist Tiffany Strom’s voice is on full display as it evokes a unique poignancy that drives the band through seven emotionally devastating tracks.
 

With her sophomore album 'Wistful', multi-instrumentalist SYLVAINE is delving deeper into her characteristic ambient wall-of-sound landscapes that are painted by beautiful melodies, lingering guitar riffs, and atmospheres, which are all underlined by a solid groove.
The recordings for 'Wistful' were completed in renowned French Drudenhaus Studios in spring 2015. It was mixed and mastered by the same team as her first full-length during autumn and winter of 2015. The album features contributions by Stephen Shepard and Stéphane "Neige" Paut as session drummers as well as violinist Coralie Louarnika and cellist Thibault Guichard.

SKUGGSJÁ is the epic sound of Norway's Norse history as told through harder music by Ivar Bjørnson (ENSLAVED) and Einar Selvik (WARDRUNA). Written by Bjørnson and Selvik for the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution, SKUGGSJÁ tells the history of Norway to the present day by highlighting ideas, traditions and instruments of their Norse past. In a magnificent tapestry of metal instrumentation, a wide variety of Norway and Scandinavia’s oldest instruments, and poetry in Proto-Scandinavian, Norse and Norwegian, SKUGGSJÁ fuses past and present, both lyrically and musically, and reflects on themselves as a people and nation.
 

Norwegian epic black metal pioneers BORKNAGAR will release their tenth studio album, "Winter Thrice"
The album's limited-edition digipak CD version and the gatefold 2-LP also come with the bonustrack "Dominant Winds" and additionally, the digipak will include a BORKNAGAR logo patch.
