Back in stock - musica Black Metal e Dark estrema
Sepulchral Voice, jewelcase, 4 page booklet, To all death metal lunatics and black metal psychopaths left out there in this toothless and tamed scene, CONCRETE WINDS are back to push spikes, needles, and barbed wire into your ears! Once again, the noise aggressors slit the veil from beyond and step into our world to pillage and hound to death all what was known, predictable, and comfortable in metal music. Their third album is self-titled for mandatory reasons and shows the band furthermore exploring the EXTREME in extreme metal. This truly is rabies set to music! As expected, the album is rooted in outrageous speed, heaviest trembling rhythm passages, abysmal croaked curses, turbulent breaks, and repulsive shrieking leads which let you drown in a maelstrom of insanity. But this time, new layers are also added to the pandemonic universe, as weird staccato riffing sections bleed into witching industrial scenarios. CONCRETE WINDS have always gone further than any recent extreme metal outfit and leave out everything that's established in music, cut off what became comfortable in metal, and blow away what still feels "appropriate" in extreme metal. It seems that this once-urgent attitude to explore limits finally has a new helmsman.
Cryptopsy continues to be a leader when it comes to extreme Death Metal and this new EP is their latest delivery to completely wreck everything in their way!
As a follow up to their 2015 EP, "The Book of Suffering - Tome I", Cryptopsy will be releasing the next instalment, Tome II, in the fall of 2018. "The Book of Suffering - Tome II" was produced, mixed and mastered by, Cryptopsy’s guitarist, Chris Donaldson at The Grid studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Cryptopsy states, "The Book of Suffering - Tome II" is some of the most intense, gnarly, brutal yet organic material we have written to date.”
What we have here is what I would call a mixture of "Whisper Supremacy" with "And Then You’ll Beg", and that’s a very fine place to be for Cryptopsy. Back are the frenzied, seemingly out of control guitars, manic drumming, excellent bass playing and dare I say it... really good vocals.
Reissue of the band's first release from 1995.
Depressive Silence was founded by RAL & B.S. from Mightiest in 1994. The band is one of the cult acts and forerunners of the Dungeon Synth genre alongside Mortiis and Jim Kirkwood.
Back then, the genre wasn’t even called Dungeon Synth yet, and only later got that monicker, probably named after Mortiis’ label Dark Dungeon Music. At first it was just Dark Ambient. Nonetheless it was already something special in that it combined elements from Black Metal (more visually and thematically rather than musically) and fantasy into a new style that appealed to some Black Metal fans as well as those who preferred keyboard music and role playing games. Once the name Dungeon Synth had been established the appeal to (Black) Metal fans became much greater and the genre really took off, with Depressive Silence as one of the most beloved and well known bands of this rapidly growing genre.
2024 repress. Including previously unseen pictures and exclusive liner notes by founding member Gunther Theys.
Proud and pure, Hänen temppelinsä varjoissa exudes that aura of classic Finnish black metal from the late '90s onward, as laid down by the likes of Horna, Satanic Warmaster, and Azaghal among others. Black metal doesn't need to "be" anything more than what it already IS - or what it should be - and such is the case with AESTHUS. Every element here, from the melancholically melodic riffing to the surging 'n' swirling battery to, the distinctly twisted timbre of the Finnish tongue, of course, is in perfect, precise, PASSIONATE lockstep to create a maelstrom of hypnotic-yet-hummable proportions. Indeed, Hänen temppelinsä varjoissa is the work of a true band - meaning, a group of people playing together rather than a disconnected file-sharing project - with each of these seven songs drench in literal blood and sweat and perhaps alcohol. If there's one trump card that AESTHUS play (and poignantly), it's their dual-guitar lead work; the lead lines explode with memorability and malice in equal measure, underlining the METAL in black metal but never belaboring the point.
In December 2021, AVSKRÄDE emerged from storms of old with their debut full-length for PURITY THROUGH FIRE, Det stora tunga sjuka. Hailing from Sweden, the duo dutifully reinvigorated ancient Scandinavian black metal, both from Norway as well as their native land. No more but definitely no less, Det stora tunga sjuka was traditional BLACK METAL Exclusively: pure freezing fire, nasty and rustic and primitive but not without nuance.
And so it goes, a full two years later, with AVSKRÄDE's Undergång. Whereas the duo's debut reminded of Darkthrone's "Peaceville trilogy" and Malicious-era Gorgoroth, here on their second album do they kick up the nastiness and let the (freezing) filth flow freely, nodding to such underrated Darkthrone tomes as Total Death or even Ravishing Grimness. Indeed is AVSKRÄDE's grimness ravishing across Undergång, but compared to successive disciples as early Craft and Armagedda, the duo incorporate a slight bit more melody into proceedings - at times haunting, others anxious, but always hammered with cruel efficiency. And if there's one phrase to characterize AVSKRÄDE at this point, it's "cruelly efficient"; their songwriting is stripped to the fucking bone, but every note and hit is fucking RIGHT, and their live-in-the-rehearsal-room execution is blanching in its tightness. And once again, the album maintains a richly Grieghallen-esque production for maximum authenticity. Winter is looming, so hasten its arrival with Undergång!
