FVNERALS’ music has elements of ambient music, post-rock, drone shoegaze, slowcore, and it’s dark sounded with slow paced atmospheres.

 

Hailing from the cascadian gloom of British Columbia, Canada, Ulvik,
formed by Jade Fadel and George Allen, released a double length with
Avantgarde Music in 2019, Volume I & II. After spending the opening
months of the 2020 pandemic creating Isolation Motifs, a short concept
instrumental album and corresponding video series, Ulvik finished writing
and recording their sophomore album, Cascades.
Cascades is a hypnotic, atmospheric black metal album, incorporating the
old, organic textures of plucked and bowed bouzoukis and violins to create
ethereal interludes, in contrast to the visceral aggressive tone of each track.
This melding is mirrored by shared dual vocals, creating a counter balance
that weaves and crashes between malevolent and haunting.

Olio Tähtien Takana is one of the artistic expressions of Finnish multi-instrumentalist v-KhaoZ (Vargrav, Druadan Forest and many others), here joined in his artistic endeavour by singer Hellwind Inferion (Desolate Shrine, Sargeist).

Spectral Katharsis is the third album by Olio Tähtien Takana, and is described by Hellwind with a series of key terms: “Cosmic, majestic misanthropy and ultimate devil worship”. Expect fury, rage and patterns of keyboards to surround you and bring you on your journey through the cosmos.

On the musical side of things, v-KhaoZ says: “We wanted something different than our other bands, a more straightforward, yet melodic approach. To this we added a varied singing style and otherworldly, space-like keyboards, to reach the multidimensionality we were aiming for”. Spectral Katharsis will tickle fans of Limbonic Art, Odium and the mid-’90s symphonic black metal scene.

The band's very name is probably the best expression to describe what v.KhaoZ and Hellwind Inferion are trying to accomplish with their collaboration, as Olio Tähtien Takana is Finnish for 'A Creature Beyond the Stars'.

ENDLYSET is a new black metal band from Sweden. Their debut EP, Tusen År, was released digitally in 2020, and the follow-up, Beholders is now ready. Five tracks of apocalyptic, yet atmospheric black metal that both incorporate clean vocals and keyboards without losing that original swedish touch. The LP includes the title track from the Tusen År EP as bonus.

With its inception in New York City in 2018, Morbid Sphere was born an heir to the location's long legacy of dark and oppressive death metal. Among its primary influences, the band perhaps unsurprisingly mentions Incantation, fellow denizens of the same depraved metropolis whose well-established and recognizable body of work is reflected in Morbid Sphere's initial recordings. Said parallel aside, this relatively newfound quartet's sound has been shaped by a variety of influences that give it multiple dimensions and thus distinguish it from what one might be led to expect based simply on its place of origin and assigned subgenre. Similarly to the legendary Disembowelment of a continent far-removed, Morbid Sphere takes advantage of the space between notes and beats just as effectively as it conjures those elements themselves. The band also reaches outside the typical boundaries of death metal in drawing inspiration from the works of Ved Buens Ende and Virus, in particular through its use of progressive and unorthodox melodic ideas.
