Dark Atmospheric Black Metal from the KHORS/ULVEGR gang
This is the soundtrack to the Norwegian movie Morgenrøde, released on dvd and bluray on 2016/05/09 after collecting an impressive serie of important reviews and prizes at various Sci-Fi movie exhibitions and dedicated magazines.
Music-side, the OST was composed and recorded by Ole Petter Sørum: when not imaginarily bound to the screen, we could define this as a "post-isolationist" / "post-apocalyptic" dark ambient record.
Very minimalist and extremely cold in the choice of sounds, this is not even imaginable as the perfect sound of a nightmare, but what comes after that.....
MORGENRØDE aka. DAWN [2014] - a norwegian post-apocalyptic film
Ascolta su BandCamp
9 tracks of Old school black metal, reminiscent of classic bands such as Bathory, Venom and Mayhem.
A spiritual journey, a shamanic quest for knowledge that leads to endless steppes of Cental Asia, frozen rivers of Ural, dark halls of Erlik-Khan, the God of Death to the fire hidden in man's soul.
It is based on a vast variety of mythological and ritualistic traditions. Musically, the album combines and refines all artistic discoveries the band made in course of the years. Oriental folk melodies are entwined with epic black metal riffing and a touch of gloomy doom metal.
Five tracks (that culminate in a 35-minute sonic journey that depicts the sound of spiritual death throughout the ages), “Endless Pilgrimage” sees GRAVE MIASMA follow-up their “Odori Sepulcrorum” milestone LP by taking their sound further into darker, more atmospheric and more progressive territory channeling some of their most challenging, aggressive, and most advanced material to date. With “Endless Pilgrimage”, GRAVE MIASMA have harnessed a new level of creativity to their oeuvre creating another unparalleled work within the genre.
Songs talks about landscapes, cohabitation between man and nature, the music is deeply inspired by Cascadian black metal bands like Wolves in the Throne Room, Alda…
At times you might get the feeling that this is music being piped through from another time. It is music mercifully free of the tropes that trip us up and the trends that scratch on the grubby windows of the music scene.
‘Samoht Nara’ is music dedicated to the natural and listening to it feels like a rare, beautiful privilege.
