KATLA
Módurástin

Katla is an Icelandic band featuring ex-Sólstafir drummer and visual artist Guðmundur Óli Pálmason and singer/multi-instrumentalist Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson (Fortíð, Potentiam). Named in tribute to one of Iceland's greatest active volcanos, Katla creates powerful, panoramic music where shimmering guitars, crushing melodies and atmospheric density meet dark, entrancing power.

Katla's debut album, "Móðurástin", shines a spotlight on the band's hook-heavy, horizon-stretching sound. The lyrics tell tales of living in a country of contrasts; a land where fire and ice co-exist and dark winters are offset by the summer's midnight sun. Iceland: a country where insular existence has spurred a rich and vibrant culture.
"Móðurástin", Icelandic for (a) Mother's Love, might seem like a strange title for a metal album, but Katla dares to be different. What on Earth is stronger than a mother's love? Nothing. Not hate, not lust, not greed.

IKARIE
Arde (color vinyl)

Transparent "beer color" vinyl - Gatefold cover / 250 copies limited

Spanish doom/post-metal quintet Ikarie is back with their sophomore album Arde, two years after the acclaimed debut Cuerpos En Sombra. Here is how the band introduces their work…

“If Cuerpos En Sombra was about pain, Arde is about transformative rage. In the first part we presented a series of characters and desolate places, with bodies and souls sunk in misery and mud, of ghosts who are victims but are not aware of the fact that they are being victims.

In this part of the trilogy that doesn’t happen, although the denunciation and lamentation is maintained, it is no longer spoken of the land in that sense but of burning everything for a new beginning, from that fire, so deep and painful, which hanges the shape of things, like magma and the creation of stars, like a collision of planets, there is no way back after that.

With the advice of a forensic psychologist and criminologist, we have selected passages from history, victims and paradigmatic and tremendous characters that exemplify Hannah Arendt’s concept of the “banality of evil” properly, because as a society we are part of it, and therefore, it is a call to revolution.”

SAD
Black Metal Craft

Since 2005, Greece's SAD have been a madly prolific bastion of pure 'n' cold black metal. Their canon is vast and varied - VERY relatively so, given that this is all-caps BLACK METAL after all - with the longstanding duo of instrumentalist Ungod and vocalist Nadir exploring the darkest corridors of their souls every step of the way. They've did so across a half-dozen albums for such esteemed labels as Drakkar, Obscure Abhorrence, and Old Temple among others as well as a dozen splits, but then joined forces with PURITY THROUGH FIRE in 2020 for the release of their seventh album, Misty Breath of Ancient Forests.

Indeed, that album was aptly titled, for it saw SAD delivering their most ancient work in many moons. But the Greek duo are ever surprising, and nearly four years later do they emerge from the shadows with the fully-fuck-off Black Metal Craft. It's no accident that the album is titled such, as it reasserts the purity at the very heart of the SAD aesthetic and strips it to the fucking bone with ghoulish violence. Raw and rippling, here SAD somehow inject the melancholic melodicism of its Misty predecessor and then stir the maelstrom to a swirling boil, remaining hypnotic and locked-in whilst managing to gallop forth from time to time in a manner most regal. Put another way, Black Metal Craft could serve as a love letter to the late '90s heyday of Sombre Records or the aforementioned Drakkar, so old & cold its aesthetic (and, again, unapologetic its title). PURITY THROUGH FIRE is thus the most fitting stronghold for SAD's eternal black metal craft!

KRODA
Navij Skhron

Along with the coming of Fall, the time has come to announce our future release "Naviy Skhron”. We are sure it will be hard to understand and take this release. It consists of 6 very peculiar ambient tracks which were made in collaboration with Clin, keyboardist of Ukrainian cult band Reusmarkt. It also contains 3 black-metal tracks (which are also of very uncommon style for Kroda). All of the tracks are so dissimilar that none could be a quintessence of the whole album's preview. That’s why we have decided to choose the cover version of the classic Ukrainian Black Metal - “Under the Banners of the Horned Knjaz” by Nokturnal Mortum as the representative of this release.
