TRIUMPHANT BLACK METAL SUPREMACY FROM THE FORMER MAYHEM GUITARIST/ VLTIMAS FOUNDER, BLASPHEMER.
RUIM was formed in 2020 by the Norwegian born, Grammy award winning guitarist Blasphemer (Rune Eriksen), known from acts such as Vltimas & Mayhem.
Joining Blasphemer on drums is French born drummer Cesar Vesvre (Agressor, Thagirion).
Driven by a firm desire to revisit the style of music he has dedicated himself to & been associated with since the mid 90's & inspired by the rediscovery of a long-lost tape of old, unused Mayhem-era riffs from 98/99, the concept of starting a new project based around these ideas manifested itself quickly.
Soon, a new vision was born for an album immersed in Brazilian witchcraft and the left-hand path of the Umbanda tradition - a practice in which Blasphemer himself is taught in - to deliver a new blackened opus in the vein Blasphemer has been synonymous with since his inception into Mayhem back in 1994 (until 2007).
'Black Royal Spiritism - I.O Sino Da Igreja' is RUIM's debut studio album.
It presents a glimpse of something new, unique, visionary & highly eclectic.
This album marks the beginning of a concept set to span a trilogy of releases exploring & incorporating a deeply personal expression of Blasphemer's own beliefs regarding the greater spirits of the left-hand path.
A pitch-black offering, 'Black Royal Spiritism' is steeped in ominous & eerie, unnerving darkness.
Each track is meticulously woven with a sinister undercurrent, given flesh by Blasphemer's highly distinctive brutal riffing style, with atmospheric, ambient & clean passage interludes featuring among the chaos.
Vocals on 'Black Royal Spiritism - I.O Sino Da Igreja' are also handled by Blasphemer himself, sung in a mix of English, Portuguese & Norwegian, with lyrical themes rooted in a celebration & dedication to the lore & rituals of linha da esquerda.
'Black Royal Spiritism - I.O Sino Da Igreja' was recorded at Drudenhaus Studio in France & mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door.
Proscriptor McGovern from 'Absu' also makes a guest appearance on a savage re-recording of the Mayhem classic 'Fall Of Seraphs' bringing fresh life to the track, which Blasphemer wrote back in 1995 & which originally featured on the 'Wolf's Lair Abyss' EP.
THE NORWEGIAN EXPERIMENTAL BLACK PROGRESSIVE METAL PURVEYORS RETURN WITH A 68 MINUTE DARK MASTERPIECE OF CHALLENGING & UNNERVING INTROSPECTION
‘A Umbra Omega’ is DHG’s first album since 2007’s ‘Supervillain Outcast’ opus, and undoubtedly marks the band’s most challenging work to date; twisted, technical, sprawling, progressive epics and an inverted outlook on existence from the depths of band mastermind/writer/producer Vicotnik, with similarities drawn to previous classic DHG works such as ‘666 International’ and ‘Satanic Art’ whilst being taken to a whole new level.
Atmospheric black metal union GRIMA return with a dark ritual of ancient forest magic!
With 10 years of scene-stealing experience behind them, looming stars of Siberian atmospheric black metal, GRIMA, will release their sixth album and Napalm Records debut, Nightside, on February 28, 2025. After several shows accross Europe (one with highly-uprising german death metal force Kanonenfieber), the band is set to honor the spirit of the Siberian Forest, Taiga, with their impending next chapter.
While fans of their deep, melancholic sound can look forward to tales like in “Flight Of The Silver Storm” and “The Nightside”, GRIMA also showcases focused effort and skill on the album’s more brief, accessible offerings. “Beyond The Dark Horizon“ and “Curse Of The Void” are as dreamy and complex as their big brothers, but also satisfy as more direct black metal anthems. The band shows a wide range of variety: First single “Skull Gatherers” is infused with the mesmerizing cold of the Siberian evening wilderness, constructed with folk instruments like the Russian accordion bayan but GRIMA also use death metal-like growls into their delivery on “Impending Death Premonition”.
Mixing, mastering, and helming the album’s clear, powerful sound is black metal-experienced producer Vladimir Lehtinen. The two driving forces behind the band’s unique sound, Vilhelm and Morbius, both deliver different aspects of the band’s impactful, massive guitar riffs, leads and melodies, while Vilhelm also soars as vocalist. Guest musicians Vlad (drums) and Serpentum (guitars) also join the fold both in studio and on stage. In addition to their unforgettable sound, the band’s eerie, piercing look – towering like living trees with intimidating carved wooden masks and branched fingers – adds another haunting element to their brutal yet beautiful output. With their mysterious visual aura and intriguing sound, on Nightside, GRIMA continues to prove themselves as an unmissable band to watch within the genre.
Swedish legendary act Pan.Thy.Monium's first album reissued jewelcase cd
Svart Records continues to reissue the albums of Havukruunu, bringing their 2020 classic UINUOS SYÖMEIN SOTA back on the market in September 2025. Havukruunu's third album UINUOS SYÖMEIN SOTA is widely praised for its epic and melodic black metal, combining heavy metal influences with folk music. The album is celebrated in particular for its catchy melodies, powerful atmospherics, lush guitar solos and choral vocals, which create a unique blend of bleak heavy metal and other genres. The album has been compared to the works of Bathory and Moonsorrow, but critics have put Havukruunu on their own level for having such a unique style. True Finnish Forest Metal.
CD in deluxe Digipak with die-cut permitting to choose between 2 different covers and 8-page booklet.
Since forming in 2009, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT has carved out a singular place in modern black metal, blending relentless intensity with a philosophical core. Rooted in the genre’s foundations yet constantly evolving, the German quartet is known for its emotional depth, compositional complexity, and striking live presence.
On sixth album ‘Innern’, the band turns inward with devastating clarity. Each track offers a meditation on human fragility and existential transformation, shifting between blistering aggression and haunting serenity. “Marter” explores shared suffering as a path to transcendence, “Eos” imagines nature reclaiming a blood-soaked earth, and “Forlorn” becomes an intimate plea for emotional refuge, sung in English to underscore its universality. The interplay between soaring guitars, pulsing bass, and intricate percussion frames Nikita Kamprad’s visceral vocal performance with precision and raw urgency.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by Kamprad himself, the album captures both immediacy and atmosphere, placing the listener in direct confrontation with the void.
For fans of WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY, AMENRA, GAEREA

The early recordings of THORNS and their predecessor STIGMA DIABOLICUM belong to the most legendary and influential Norwegian black metal works of all time. This encompasses STIGMA DIABOLICUM’s "Luna De Nocturnus" demo (1991) and rehearsal tape as well the THORNS demos "Grymyrk" (1991) and "Trøndertun" (1992). Mastermind Snorre Ruch aka Blackthorn is widely credited as the original creator of the Nordic black metal guitar sound that in combination with the riffing and concepts of MAYHEM's Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth laid the sonic foundation of the as famous as infamous Norwegian scene – and subsequently the global phenomenon that followed.
