Norway’s Coffin Storm is a new band consisting of Apollyon (Aura Noir/Lamented Souls), Bestial Tormentor (Infernö/Lamented Souls) and Darkthrone’s Fenriz.
The trio's debut album Arcana Rising offers a powerful fusion of classic heavy metal, slow thrash and doom (a torrent of rousing, accomplished titanic riffing commandeered by Fenriz’s unmistakable vocal prowess).
----------
Arcana Rising contains six sprawling metallic epics covering the 45 minute running time, and was recorded at a variety of studios in the band’s native Norway, with work originally commencing back to 2021. With production overseen by Apollyon himself, ‘Arcana Rising’ truly channels & encapsulates the spirit of the 80s, with inspiration from such masters of metal as Candlemass, Pentagram, Metallica & early Kreator, with musical nods to early Paradise Lost & Cathedral from the more extreme side of the doom spectrum, as well as including traces of the DNA from Apollyon & Bestial Tormentor’s own prior work together with their cult doom act Lamented Souls, to create a sensational and majestic opus.
Mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door (Darkthrone), the cover art appears courtesy of Polish artist Maciej Kamuda.
2021 CD reissue of the 1996 debut of cult classic medieval black metal mastery from Monaco's Godkiller.
A prime example of finely crafted, grandiose yet raw mid-90s Black Metal, the release creatively developed out of 1995's demo, The Warlord (incorporating music from that release, with anti-Christian themes prevalent throughout and an overall concept of the battle between good and evil).
With a cold, stripped down production, plus triumphantly dark yet epic riffs mixed with tortured vocals and highly effective synthesizer melodies, the EP evokes a strong Medieval atmosphere throughout, and shows why The Rebirth of the Middle Ages is still highly regarded as a glorious touch of darkness from the past.
Presented with its original artwork, plus lyrics. Remastered by Godkiller’s Duke Satanaël himself.
Reissue 2023
Fantastic debut album of Blackened Death/Doom/Sludge warmachine from Lviv, Ukraine dedicated to WWI and coming with fresh and powerful sound in veins of HAIL OF BULLETS, ASPHYX and BOLT THROWER with strong martial atmosphere. The album covers the whole theatre of fighting the Great War - the Battle of Gallipoli and the involvement of Ataturk, Brusilovsky breakthrough, the Battle of Verdun, gas attack at Ypres, Italian troops Arditi, Christmas truce and the bombing of London by German Zeppelins. WWI does not explored very often in metal, but these Ukrainian brave soldiers make a damn solid case for it. It's stomping, it is heavy as all hell, and just makes you want to get up and march toward death.
Contains the 1994 demo "Entrance and Wandering on the Seven Zones" and the 1998 EP "A Caress of War and Wisdom". Limited edition to 250 blue vinyl.
