Todestrieb is a Polish black metal duo formed in 2023 in Cracow by blein (guitars and bass) and Res (vocals and lyrics). After several months of hard work, the duo completed their debut studio record, Corona Tenebra, which will be released in December by Avantgarde Music.
Drawing their inspiration from bands such as Watain, Odraza, Drastus, Kriegsmaschine, Tortorum, Funeral Mist and many more, Todestrieb managed to find their own way in the crowded black metal underground, specifying that “those bands influenced rather the essence of our music than the form”.
Corona Tenebra consists of five tracks and an outro, and its lyrics, all written in Polish but translated into English in the album booklet, circle around themes like spirituality, gnostic satanism, blasphemy, theology and philosophy.
Featuring Mgła, Hauntologist and Owls Woods Graves’ Michał “The Fall” Stępień on drums, Todestrieb debut is a very diverse, fascinating take on black metal. Corona Tenebra was recorded in No Solace studio and mixed and mastered at Impressive Art Studio. With an artwork by Izabela Grabda, Corona Tenebra will be released via Avantgarde Music on CD, LP and digital on December 13th, 2024.

Kanonenfieber's debut Menschenmühle has been one of the self-produced highlights of early 2021. With its mature songwriting and uncommon thematic approach, the album is intended to commemorate the countless victims of World War I.
Men were thrown into a differing reality where only survival would count. Death, fear and hunger as a steady companion in the waist-deep trenches filled with mud. One order transferred people into cannon fodder in the human mill - World War I. The lyrical background of Menschenmühle is based on factual reports, letters and other documents from the surviving and deceased soldiers. The album was written, recorded and produced by Kanonenfieber from September 2020 to January 2021 in the Noisebringer studio.
Anthropic Bias (2022) explores themes of cosmic significance and existential philosophy, echoing the idea of humanity’s tendency to see the universe as centered around itself. The music itself is a fusion of icy, tremolo-picked guitar riffs, blast beats, and haunting, atmospheric synth layers. It carries an otherworldly mood, drifting between aggression and contemplation. The song also incorporates electronic elements and ambient interludes, which provide a vast, ethereal soundscape. This single is both relentless and meditative, capturing Mesarthim’s ability to craft immersive, spacey atmospheres while retaining black metal’s raw intensity.
Departure (2024) leans heavily into the band’s cosmic themes, evoking feelings of journeying through space or leaving behind something familiar. The track opens with a somber and almost melancholic tone, gradually building into a massive, swirling blend of distorted guitars and atmospheric keys. The song shifts through dynamic phases, from soaring melodies to intense, fast-paced sections. Like much of Mesarthim’s work, Departure utilizes synth layers to create a celestial, almost dreamlike atmosphere, suggesting both the awe and isolation of venturing into the unknown. The track serves as a contemplative journey, fitting with the title’s theme of departure and escape.

From the depths of outer space, a new creature reached planet Earth: Vrazorth is a new one-man band shrouded in mystery, albeit rumors say they originated somewhere in Sweden.
Vrazorth, a cryptic force lurking in Sweden’s black metal underworld, conjures chilling atmospheres that spiral through the infinite void. The solo project of Vra, shrouded in anonymity, blends icy riffs with cosmic dissonance, like the cold embrace of a forgotten star collapsing into darkness. Unholy whispers entwine with celestial screams, creating soundscapes that evoke a realm beyond time.
To craft its debut studio album, Vrazorth drew inspiration from the best: the alien atmosphere of Darkspace, the hallucinated violence of Mysticum, the unpredictable and hybrid nature of Mesarthim. Everything perfectly mixed together to create music that sings of the cosmos, its void and the hidden mysteries that lie among the stars.

Wolvencrown’s take on black metal is based on long, keyboard-layered structures, with songs seldom clocking in at less than eight or nine minutes. The solemnity of keyboards, though, is balanced by the fury and rage of guitar riffs and fast drumming, making Celestial Lands a varied and diverse effort. Different from the atmospheric black metal you often hear coming from the Pacific Northwest, Wolvencrown melodies have deep roots in the European tradition, while their lyrics deal with nature, its spirits and the damage Man has caused.

Following their 2021 debut De Rerum Natura, Italian atmospheric/melodic black metal duo Eard is back with their sophomore album, Melancholia.
In the band's words, “Melancholia is a deeply introspective work exploring human experience, heavily influenced by the poetic tradition of Romanticism. A defining aspect of Eard is the atmosphere shaped by the strings of the celtic harp interwoven with wistful, evocative guitar melodies. Continuing the tradition initiated with their debut album, the music is enriched by the vocals of guest artists, including Saor’s mastermind Andy Marshall and Belgian multi-instrumentalist Déhà (SLOW, Déhà, Acathexis and many more), who was featured in the previous album and returns this time to contribute to two tracks”.
Eard pays homage to Anglo-Saxon poetry, such homage beginning with the very name of the band, the Old English word used to describe the concept of earth, land and home. Melancholia tells tales of misty lands of old and ancient voyages across the seas, and its haunting melodies will pierce through the greyness of everyday life.

From the ever-creating mind of Finnish musician Juuso Peltola (Warmoon Lord, Argenthorns, Old Sorcery, Tenebrarium and many more) comes Oneironaut, a brand new music journey along the German ambient tradition.
Oneironaut can be viewed as a distant cousin of Old Sorcery, spawned beyond a weird horizon, in another dimension alien to sword & sorcery. Slumbering in retro science fiction themes and powered by vintage synthesizers both cosmic and esoteric, Alien Gnosis aims to take the listener to a profound journey through the borders of imagination.
Oneironaut is a new piece in the collaboration between Avantgarde Music and the Finnish artist, expanding towards new galaxies. Adorned with a beautiful painting by Mara Hiltunen, Alien Gnosis is a long, fascinating path through galaxies far, far away…
