Comprising four monolithic tracks, each one as aptly titled as the next, in a soul-draining 47 minutes, I Am the Scourge of Eternity is an orgiastic feast for the ears as well as eyes, drawing together bulldozing black metal, bestial death metal, and smokestacked doom metal into a hypnotizing whole. Utterly entrancing yet confidently confrontational, the vortextural maw CHTHONIC CULT creates is "head music" shot through with violence and dragged through the dirt of centuries.

One of the best of the history of Black Metal is back.
Horna's ninth full length album. The Band's previous full length album "Askel lähempänä Saatanaa" was something of a throwback to mid '90s black metal classicism. By contrast, Hengen Tulet carries forward a similar songwriting aesthetic - surging 'n' swooshing speed, spiraling melody both majestic and malevolent - but reinvigorates a foul, fetid primitivism. It's still a supremely varied yet focused spin, compact (and caustic) as ever, but the headbanging, hard-charging tropes are surely a sign of HORNA's well-oiled machinery lately on the live front, where Spellgoth has cultivated no small amount of infamy for his penetrating performances.

Although literally emerging from nothingness earlier this year, SHRINE OF INSANABILIS are no mere acolytes, instead evincing a master's knowledge across their debut album. Never more aptly titled, Disciples of the Void comprises six testimonies to the fiery aspiration for enlightenment through inconceivable nothingness. These testimonies are also manifested into this world by their corresponding sigils. SHRINE OF INSANABILIS vividly portray these visions through a heaving mass of obsidian black metal, forever rising and falling, surging and merging, offering glimpses of glory and valleys of despair in equal measure.

On their fifth full-length 'Antiliv' not a single note has to be dyed black, because the roots that are clearly showing are all glistening with the abyssal musical non-colour pioneered by BATHORY, CELTIC FROST, and VENOM as well as those Northern masters MAYHEM, DARKTHRONE, and EMPEROR. The venomous and vicious throat rendering by bassist Nag and guitarist Draugluin entwines with thorny, relentlessly driving riffs and an infernal rhythmical ice storm unleashed by drummer Anti-Christian over majestic melodies.
When the Norwegians returned with 'Legion Helvete' in 2011, it became obvious that they had honed their songwriting to razor sharp perfection since splitting up after the release of the live DVD 'Norwegian Apocalypse' in 2006.
Now TSJUDER stand proud with an impressive demonstration that they are still growing stronger and the hellishly fierce masterpiece 'Antiliv', which the band modestly describes as "raw and uncompromising black metal".
