This is the soundtrack to the Norwegian movie Morgenrøde, released on dvd and bluray on 2016/05/09 after collecting an impressive serie of important reviews and prizes at various Sci-Fi movie exhibitions and dedicated magazines.
Music-side, the OST was composed and recorded by Ole Petter Sørum: when not imaginarily bound to the screen, we could define this as a "post-isolationist" / "post-apocalyptic" dark ambient record.
Very minimalist and extremely cold in the choice of sounds, this is not even imaginable as the perfect sound of a nightmare, but what comes after that.....

A spiritual journey, a shamanic quest for knowledge that leads to endless steppes of Cental Asia, frozen rivers of Ural, dark halls of Erlik-Khan, the God of Death to the fire hidden in man's soul.
It is based on a vast variety of mythological and ritualistic traditions. Musically, the album combines and refines all artistic discoveries the band made in course of the years. Oriental folk melodies are entwined with epic black metal riffing and a touch of gloomy doom metal.
 

Debut full lenght for the Teutonic merciless trio. Dark and gloomy Death-Doom of the highest and morbid level. 55 minutes of equally fast and slow tempos which will drag you down into the deepest nothingness. Raw, ruthless and monolithic.

Seven years without a new studio album by long-running Swedish black metal act DARK FUNERAL was a tough time for its worldwide legions of fans, but finally in 2016, two decades after the release of the band’s legendary debut album “The Secrets Of The Black Arts” a new aeon is about to begin. And, DARK FUNERAL's sixth studio album, “Where Shadows Forever Reign”, produced by Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth), actually refers back to the aforementioned first album in several ways: Firstly, it proudly comes along with stunning artwork by Necrolord (Dissection, Necrophobic, Emperor) just like “The Secrets…” back in ‘96, secondly, it also marks a debut of sorts as it is the first DARK FUNERAL opus with new vocalist Heljarmadr (Grá).
