Making heads turn since 2016 with the old school yet progressive cosmic death metal exposed in their demos, EPs and split with Undeath and Into Coffin, Italy's Devoid Of Thought released their 40 minutes debut full-length album Outer World Graves via Everlasting Spew Records in 2021. Between 2022 and 2025 the band focused on live activities, playing a number of prime festivals and shows such as Frantic Fest, Brutal Assault, Stige Fest, several European tours with Artificial Brain and Ad Nauseam and supported bands like Beherit, Necrot, Suffering Hour and many more…
Combining influences from bands like Timeghoul, Blood Incantation, Voivod and Incantation in a unique, bizarre and twisted vortex, the Italian quartet is now ready to celebrate its tenth year of existence with their sophomore studio record, self-titled Devoid Of Thought.
From outer world graves, where stars go to die and the effigies of distant planets are found, the portal has now opened toward a quantum leap, placed at the incipit of the end. The panspermic biodome is a colorful multiverse, awash in stellar life and boiling with transformation. Time here represents an entropic euphoria and is no longer a mortal clock. From a putrescent mire, a new form of life is born, endowed with an unprecedented shell, different from that of any known species. Consciousness is now ready to cross the cosmos once again and navigate through oblivion, until returning to a new beginning, in order to experience itself into many forms.

Emerging from the shadows where it was forged, this work marks a new passage in our journey through the ever-shifting borderlands of light and darkness. Recorded and shaped between the cold months of 2024 and 2025, “Tamsošviesa / Chiaroscuro” stands as a culmination of years of devotion, reflection, and sound sculpting. It is both a continuation and a turning point – a chapter where our path through the twilight sharpens into clear focus.
For two decades, LUCTUS has walked the narrow line between shadow and light, guided by the pulse of this strange world and those who have listened along the way. With “Tamsošviesa / Chiaroscuro”, we now place another stone upon that path – deliberate, unhurried, unwavering.
CD: Jewel case CD with 16 pages booklet.
Gladium Regis was born in the early 2000s as a collaboration between Arcanist Augur Svafnir and Salinoch. The duo recorded The Dark Stronghold (2003), an unreleased demo. Though never published, the demo songs and ideas carried forward and have been later reworked for Draugr (the Italian pagan black metal band which Svafnir co-founded and fronted in 2000s).
Even before Gladium Regis or Draugr, Svafnir had been experimenting with folky synth and dark electronic compositions, collected under the demo "Svafnir – Let the Ravens Come". Years later, those early sketches became the foundation for “Kingdom” (2020), a dungeon synth release created in London as an atmospheric backdrop for tabletop campaigns. “Kingdom” served as both a resurrection of the Gladium Regis banner as a solo dungeon synth act and a bridge between past experiments and future directions. “Kingdom” received some attention and has been released as CD and MC format.
