Uncompromising Dutch Black Metal – DOODSWENS’ sophomore album out in April via Svart Records
Doodswens is a Dutch Black Metal band formed in 2017 by I. Live she performs the drums and vocals, joined by R. & P. on bass and guitar. Doodswens translates to Deathwish, but the meaning and heavy load to the word in Dutch translates better to Driven by Death. The self-titled sophomore album by Doodswens is out on April 17th 2026.
After establishing themselves in the Dutch scene, Doodswens gained an international following doing tours with Marduk & Gorgoroth. Doodswens’ performances are ceremonial and ritualistic, which have been reported to be as uplifting as they are devastating, depending on the demons you bring them to offer. Whatever you carry with you will be exposed. They like to confront instead of bringing comfort.
Morning Star finds Këkht Aräkh arriving at a truer, more refined version of himself. Recorded between Berlin and Stockholm, the album emerges from a period of intense personal and artistic growth, blending aggressive black metal passages with immersive, textured soundscapes that feel both intimate and vast.

35 years after their inception Nittedal-based TULUS are still going strong and return with a new album. Only three years after its predecessor, the notorious three-piece is back with their eight full-length entitled Morbid Desires which Darkness Shall Rise are very proud to be releasing.
Instead of straying from their path, Morbid Desires comprises nine tracks that continue the trademark TULUS sound. An abundance of hellishly catchy riffs moulded into concise mid-tempo songs performed by proficient musicians accompanied by Blodstrup’s grim vocals are still the main characteristics of TULUS. Having said that, Morbid Desires is by no means a one-dimensional album. Fast parts, beautifully chanted vocals, flamenco and acoustic guitars etc. woven into some of the songs provide the album with plenty of variety. “Sabbat”, the album’s closer and by far the longest track surely sticks out the most. Undeniably conceived as a tribute to BLACK SABBATH the song is nothing short of amazing and impressively proves the outstanding musicianship of TULUS’ members.
Morbid Desires was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studios, Sweden. September 2025.

"The Scottish threat of blackened speed metal is back!
Featuring 8 new tracks over 44 minutes, the highly anticipated fourth album, Coronach, reaches new heights of metallic intensity.
Bolder, more daring, and more adventurous than ever, Hellripper is crafted for speed and razor-sharp riffs."
VIA DOLORIS is the singular vision of Gildas Le Pape, shaped by solitude, discipline, and an uncompromising sense of craft. Rooted in Nordic black metal tradition yet guided by melody and introspection, the project traces a deeply personal inner journey. “Guerre et Paix” is an album of tension and balance, where shadow and light coexist in measured dialogue. Across seven expansive compositions, VIA DOLORIS explores the fragile architecture of the human psyche, moving through despair, rupture, and fleeting moments of clarity. The music favours restraint over excess, allowing melody to lead with quiet authority. Guitars unfold in long, expressive arcs, while rhythms remain deliberate and grounded, anchored by the nuanced drumming of Frost (Satyricon, 1349). Shifting between French, English, and Norwegian, language carries its own emotional gravity. Folk and pagan echoes surface subtly, lending the album a timeless, almost ritualistic atmosphere. For fans of BATHORY, SATYRICON, KAMPFAR. Artwork by Linnea Syversen

Malum is set to release their next chapter, From the Voids. While firmly rooted in Malum’s established sonic foundation, the album is more aggressive, continuing the confrontational path introduced on Towards Nothingness. It is driven by anger and stands as a ruthless observation of the world as it appears — dark, broken, and hollow.
The forthcoming full length consists of six tracks and does not abandon the band’s core identity but drives it forward with greater force and clarity. Having refined its expression into a cold and faceless descent toward inner collapse and existential void, Malum directs that vision beyond introspection. The music is sharpened to its core, carrying Malum’s bleak vision without compromise.
Malum rose from the ashes as a brand-new entity in the Norwegian underground scene. Their prime directive is raw, atmospheric and melodic black metal — with a sound rooted in the bleak traditions of the second wave of black metal and shaped by modern existentialism and nihilism. Malum delivers music that is both oppressive and cathartic and has carved a path through Norway’s underground with raw intensity and philosophical depth.
Malum is not merely a band — it is a confrontation. With the self. With silence. With nothingness.
