Sounding overall powerful and sublime, “The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos“ electrifies with courage and creativity. This abysmal adventure, garnished with a mind blowing artwork by Ola Larsson, covers all facets of Death Metal and breaks new ground at the same time. 

Fresh on the heels of their second album, “Strayed in Shadows”, Sweden’s premiere gothic rock band De Arma return with a three-song EP called “Nightcall”. Whereas the full-length still showed some traces of De Arma’s metal past, the EP introduces elements of darkwave into their ever-expanding sonic palette. Nonetheless, it retains many of the characteristics which earned the previous effort such critical acclaim: the outpouring of raw emotion materialising through sweeping dreamscapes, gripping choruses, and the mesmerising interplay between vocalists Andreas Pettersson and Maria Oja.

As the album unfolds, so does the narrative of death's unwritten pages, each track a testament to the inevitability of oblivion. While firmly rooted in black metal, the album is full of variation ranging from fast-paced blasts to doom-like passages and everything in between. The riffs pay homage to the iconic black metal bands of the 90s that shaped the genre, all the while carving out their own distinct trajectory. To create that extra layer of atmosphere, the songs are adorned with evocative acoustic & lead guitars and subtle synths.

The Swedish masters of aversion and forlorn VANHELGD returns with an even darker aspect of Death Metal surpassing what is deemed traditional and into the realms of blackened Doom Metal with "Temple Of Phobos".

While still firmly locked into that unmistakable VANHELGD sound, it is clear that on "Temple Of Phobos" they have steered into a much more despondent territory; very reminiscent of the early Nineties Doom. VANHELGD have managed to capture the essence and vibe with such perfection on "Temple Of Phobos" that perhaps this will go down in VANHELGD's history as one of their heaviest, gloomiest and blackest record ever.

Its been composed to be played live first (in 2016/2017) but then recorded in their own studio to be released on tape-cassette by Les Fleurs du Mal prod.
'Vent Fantôme' is right now under production process and will be released by Avantgarde Music as numbered extra limited vinyl to keep it a special release as it sounds, and digipack cd.
