Heavy, blues-based rock that you can dance to!
Quebec rockers Tonnerre emerge with La nuit sauvage, a heavy dose 70s-inspired rock that takes cues from AC/DC and Blue Öyster Cult—complete with French-sung lyrics!
There is something in the air in rural Quebec, Canada. Known for its deep, long winters, not to mention its thick, unyielding forests, Quebec’s pastoral beauty evokes the kind of prolonged, deep-into-the-night gatherings by a fire (with some libations, too) that some can only dream about. But for the members of Tonnerre, it is part of the fabric that brought them together to create a timeless form of blues-based rock that bobs the head and shakes the hips. The band’s debut album, La nuit sauvage, was created from the very nights the band spent in the countryside with friends, drinking the aforementioned beer while telling stories and listening to music. And like night itself, La nuit sauvage is an album that gets darker and more mysterious as it unfolds.
Vintage, earthy 1970s hard rock done right from the Land Down Under!
The long-awaited sophomore album from Australia’s Tarot re-imagines heavy, Hammond B3 organ hard rock for a new generation!
Eight years have passed since Tarot’s first full-length, Reflections, to their new long-player, Glimpse of the Dawn. It was like a lifetime for the 1970s-rock-tinged Australians. The band embarked on its first-ever live shows after Reflections, essentially coming together as a unit while on stage. Live activity then opened the door for increased collaboration between all members of the band. Now operating as a cohesive, free-flowing outfit, Tarot amassed a lively, spacious album in the form of Glimpse of the Dawn that earnestly pays tribute to their core influences of Uriah Heep, Rainbow and Deep Purple while blazing an identity of its own.
Glimpse of the Dawn was recorded across several studios in the band’s native Tasmania, starting with drum tracking by Joe Haley at Crawlspace Productions. From there, the band retreated to its own Heavy Chains Studio and Riff Cabin to complete tracking, yet it was the face-to-face sessions with Haley that gave the album its live and natural feel. This approach — once an industry standard but now becoming a rarity — found Tarot simply cracking open a few beers, letting the tape roll and letting the results happen as they may. To that end, Tarot purposely left open spaces to allow for improvisation. Many of the album’s lead guitar sections were written on the fly in the studio and were subsequently kept, allowing for Tarot to “catch lightning in a bottle.” This approach is perhaps best exemplified on the title track, which kicks off the album in grand fashion with rollicking Hammond keyboards and vocal trade-offs between founding member Will Spectre, guitarist Felix Russell and keyboardist Dave Harrington-George.

After many years of silence, the legendary death metal force of NECROPHAGIA, one of the very first death metal acts, has reawakened. The band’s revamped line-up have signed to Time To Kill Records for the release of the their final album, “Moribundis Grim”.
In the years of 2016-2018, the band’s last line-up - Killjoy, Serge Streltsov, Shawn Slusarek and Jake Arnette - composed and started recording what became their final opus, “Moribundis Grim”.
Unfortunately in 2018 Killjoy passed away before finishing the album. In 2022 with the help of special guests and former Necrophagia members - John McEntee from Incantation, Titta Tani (ex Goblin) and Mirai Kawashima from Sigh - the album was finally completed.
In a way, it is quite sensational to see another NECROPHAGIA album released at this point in time, meaning 40 years after their first demos were released!

Existing at the forefront of the Polish black metal movement, Blaze Of Perdition return in 2024 with their sixth full-length, Upharsin – a product of the band members environments and is somehow a step back to a more orthodox approach of black metal.
Having their previous album The Harrowing Of Hearts released right before the beginning of a global pandemic was a setback for Blaze Of Perdition since all touring plans on both sides of the pond were reduced to ash and the band consquently went on some sort of hiatus. Blaze Of Perdition still played a handful of shows from time to time but mainmen S. and XCIII decided to mainly focus on their other bands Manbryne and Piolun respectively for a while.
Musically, Upharsin is a step back from the somewhat unusual direction the band followed on The Harrowing of Hearts. A rather dark and pessimistic tone is reflected by appropriately opressive music. Haunting and melancholic melodies rooted in traditional black metal meet unforgiving blastbeats and solemn marches, while emotional yet feral vocals aim to bring a proper sense of rage and disgust.
Behold the unveiling of Bythos' latest opus, "Chthonic Gates Unveiled”!
This album builds upon the foundations laid by its predecessor, "The Womb of Zero", delving faster, fiercer and deeper into the abyssal mysteries. Through arcane melodies and esoteric motifs, it guides the listener along shadowed pathways, descending into the very sanctuaries of Chthonic deities.
Within these currents, "Chthonic Gates Unveiled" morphs into a merciless entity, transcending the boundaries of sound and words.
