This idea sprouted with the 2018’s album Bonebranches, where no human presence tarnished the art. The human aspect remained hidden, covered by snow while nature and emotion sang across beautiful landscapes and whispered verses with melodies to every listener, so it welcomed them into its utterly cold embrace of winter to lull into a cozy and familiar slumber.

In the same vein Sacred Sound of Solitude banishes all humanity and captures the snow, spirits and creatures in a world that was born anew. And there, little stories form like snowflakes within forests and mountains to bring out majestic melodies intertwined with harsh winds and thundering avalanches. It dwells into emotional journeys of spirits, battles of elements and disintegration of living beings into eternal nature. While Bloodbark started as a perfect representation of the Majestic in Atmospheric Black Metal, it now evolved into a crisp, cold and yet more complex distinction of the Majestic. However, it does not stray too far from Atmospheric Black Metal but deepens its roots. All of this is accompanied by stunning photography of nature in winter and art that is not outsourced.

Atra Vetosus, The Atmospheric / Melodic Black Metal band from Australia is back with their 3rd full length album after 3 years of silence. Their newest opus entitled: “Undying Splendour” is the follow up of their 2021 EP “Even the Dawn No Longer Brings Hope”.

Compared to the early works of the band, you can hear a solid change in style. Where the band used to lean towards the Melodic Black Metal genre, it is fair to say that since the release of Apricity in 2018 that the band has been evolving and slowly changed their musical direction towards the Atmospheric side of the Black Metal genre.

Prior to their legendary Death/Thrash masterpiece, MERCILESS cut their teeth recording two demos, Behind the Black Door and Realm of the Dark. Released in 1987 und 1988 respectively, both are naturally rather raw affairs but what they may lack in proficiency and sound quality, is made up for by unbridled ferocity and MERCILESS’ youthful enthusiasm.

These two demos are important historical relics and a peephole into times long past by one of Sweden’s pioneering bands that alongside e.g. OBSCURITY or MORBID paved the way for the Swedish (and beyond) Black- and Death Metal scene.

Aquilus started out as an atmospheric metal solo-project by Horace Rosenqvist from Melbourne, Australia, whose works encompass different styles of atmospheric music inspired by classical, folk, and other genres. Being conceived sometime in the early 2000’s, after some experimental demos and an EP “Arbor” in 2007, Aquilus released their debut album "Griseus", created soley by Rosenqvist, on CD through ATMF in 2011. A 2013 vinyl release by Blood Music raised the band into public consciousness, and "Griseus" slowly amassed a following of devoted fans, climbing its way to being voted one of the top albums of the decade on MetalStorm.

Hailing from Switzerland, SAMAEL is a trailblazing force in the metal scene, known for their ability to evolve and push boundaries. Emerging in the late '80s, the band carved their place in history by blending black metal roots with industrial and atmospheric elements, creating a sound that is both brutal and mesmerizing.

With their third album, Ceremony of Opposites (originally issued in 1994), SAMAEL achieved cult status. This iconic record merges haunting atmospheres, powerful riffs, and ritualistic lyrics into a masterpiece that redefined the genre. Tracks like “Baphomet's Throne” and “Celebration of the Fourth” showcase their ability to balance darkness and melody, cementing their legacy as innovators in extreme metal.

They take their sound and refine it into an unrelenting machine of darkness.
They keep all of their bass-lines that they're known for and amplify them into some of the best hearing in a long time. The guitar riffs are second to none. You seriously get the idea that Shatraug, Hoath Torog and Horns spent a lot of time sifting through different sounds and styles to try and find the best possible sound for this release. The drums, although sometimes a little too repetitive, sound top notch most of the time.
The band blends all these together to make some of the most melodic, dark and cold parts, to the most raw, brutal and intense parts.

Void of Hope is a Finnish black metal trio born during a recording session. The whole album was composed and recorded in five days in the studio with -30°, -35° outside and in complete darkness for most of the day. Screams took place later and were recorded in 2 days.

Void of Hope includes members from Moonlight Sorcery and Ondfødt and consider themselves influenced by bands like Gris, Silencer, Lifelover, Coldworld and Austere.

Void of Hope can be a place or a state of mind, and their debut album Proof Of Existence is a journey through mental health and depression, the outcome of which may be triumph or giving up. Proof Of Existence started as depressive black metal but grew into much more.

Void of Hope is not an anonymous band, yet they do not consider their identities relevant, as regardless of what names are printed in the album, the music is all that matters.

Skaldr is a black metal band created in 2017. Comprised of experienced musicians offering their first representation in the heavier aspects of music, the group joined together to explore shared interests in the darker elements of expression.
