In a year which marks the 40th anniversary since the initial formation - under the moniker of Black Death - of what would subsequently grow into influential genre legends, 2026 marks the return of the imperishable Norwegian duo of Fenriz & Nocturno Culto for their new opus of high calibre old metal, under the banner of ‘Pre-Historic Metal’. As Fenriz himself proclaims of the title’s symbolic origin, “Prehistoric is a loose term. I just figure it’s our VIBE, our take on things & it’s more a statement that we use old style to create something new”.

‘Pre-Historic Metal’ contains eight tracks of primal epics & gargantuan riffs with organic sound & the ever-present permeating spirit of the 70’s & 80’s, for a new continuation of the mastery witnessed on 2024’s ‘It Beckons Us All’. This next chapter in Darkthrone’s extensive & ongoing catalogue presents a vast odyssey through the sonic landscapes of Thrash, Black, Heavy & Doom Metal &, adorned with a punishing & “in your face” guitar presence, Darkthrone stirs the cauldron of savage creativity with a nod to the writing methods which were indicative of their earlier works of the late 80’s, but with a more refined craft.

'Pre-Historic Metal' was recorded at Chaka Khan Studios, Oslo, with production work conducted by Ole Øvstedal, Silje Høgevold & Mads Luis. Mastering was carried out by Jack Control at Enormous Door, & Maor Appelbaum Mastering.

Nel 2026, anno che segna il 40° anniversario dalla formazione iniziale sotto il nome di Black Death di quella che sarebbe poi diventata una delle leggende più influenti del genere, torna l’intramontabile duo norvegese composto da Fenriz e Nocturno Culto con una nuova opera di alto livello dedicata all’old metal, all’insegna del “Pre-Historic Metal”.
“Pre-Historic Metal” contiene otto brani caratterizzati da epopee primordiali e riff colossali, con un suono organico e lo spirito onnipresente degli anni ’70 e ’80, per una nuova continuazione della maestria già dimostrata in “It Beckons Us All” del 2024. Un nuovo capitolo che presenta una vasta odissea attraverso i paesaggi sonori del Thrash, Black, Heavy e Doom Metal e, impreziosito da una presenza chitarristica punitiva e aggressiva, i Darkthrone mescolano il calderone della creatività selvaggia con un cenno ai metodi di scrittura che erano indicativi dei loro primi lavori della fine degli anni ’80, ma con una maestria più raffinata.

UK thrash legends Acid Reign return with their highly anticipated new album, Daze Of The Week, releasing on May 15, 2026, via Back On Black Records. Produced by Jayce Lewis, the album features ten tracks promising catchy choruses and high-speed thrash, following their 2019 release

The fog-laden textures of post-punk intertwine with the aesthetics of dungeon synth and the ferocity of metal in Hymns From The Hills. Poison Ruin forge a dark, narrative-driven work where scathing riffs and medieval atmospheres transport the listener into an archaic sonic landscape.

On this release, the band distills a sense of primordial urgency, stepping away from modern conventions to embrace a dusty, visceral sound. The vocals guide each track through legends and shadow, celebrating a collective capable of commanding the underground imagination with a truly unique and inimitable stylistic identity.

Despite being called from the grave at a time when Black Metal from Norway suddenly gained worldwide popularity, MALFEITOR always remained an obscure entity. When some of their compatriots signed record deals with international labels, the horde from Askim deliberately acted from within the deepest underground. With a short lifespan of only 2 years, the output produced by MALFEITOR is naturally rather meagre. The releases spawned between 1991 and 1992 only consist of 1 rehearsal- and 2 demo tapes and were back in the day only spread on home-dubbed tapes in very limited quantities. Devoted to Black Metal of the rather stripped-down, minimalist style similar to early BATHORY, ILDJARN or DARKTHRONE, MALFEITOR had the potential to release a great first full-length. Unfortunately, this wasn’t destined to happen since shortly after the release of the very promising second demo Pandemonium MALFEITOR returned to the shadows from which it was conjured. The member’s contribution to Black Metal wouldn`t end with the demise of MALFEITOR, though since out of the ashes STRID and MANES (featuring Vicotnik from DØDHEIMSGARD) rose.
