Now Back On Black re-issues the bands 4 studio albums on deluxe audiophile quality vinyl. All editions of these classic black metal albums are on coloured vinyl and come in gatefold packaging!

THE THIRD ALBUM FROM THE PROLIFIC SWEDISH EXTREME METAL ACT, FEATURING MAYHEM’S HELLHAMMER ON DRUMS – PRESENTED ON LIMITED CRYSTAL-CLEAR VINYL. Swedish act Shining was formed by Niklas ‘Kvarforth’ Olsson in 1996. Already with a developed sense of direction to his compositions & expression of wholly negative outlook & emotion, Niklas created some utterly oppressive material for the debut release, the ‘Submit To Self-destruction’ EP in 1998, when Niklas himself was still only 14 years old. 'Angst' was Shining’s third album & was originally released in 2002. A development of composition was clearly evident here, working in more subtle twists & complexities to the sinister & wholly oppressive black metal. The work of Shining is intended to reflect the dark & destructive side of the world & human nature. The album was recorded at The Abyss Studios (Immortal, Marduk & Dimmu Borgir), the famous Swedish recording studio run by Peter Tägtgren, The album was recorded by Tommy Tägtgren. As is somewhat a trademark of the Shining sound, the album retains a hypnotic quality to the riffs mixed with unsettling vocal anguish, along with acoustic passages & expertly handled lead guitar passages. This was also the first Shining album to feature the legendary Hellhammer (Mayhem) on drums. This edition of ’III – Angst’ is presented on limited crystal-clear vinyl.

"Sol austan, Mani vestan" is the 11th album from Burzum and a return to a purely electronic and instrumental expression. "Sol austan, Mani vestan" is different from all the older albums, and yet similar to all of them, and is in style more than anything similar to the oldest ambient music of Burzum, like the tracks "Tomhet", "Han som reiste" and "Channelling the power of Minds into a new God". "Sol austan, Mani vestan" is inspired by and made for the "ForeBears" movie by Marie Cachet and Varg Vikernes, where much of the Scaldic music from "Sol austan, Mani vestan" appears, only in unmastered form, as a soundtrack. Burzum says of the new album: "Sol austan, Mani vestan" will feature almost an hour of instrumental electronic music, that can best be described as relaxing, slow-paced, contemplative and very much original. And of the concept Burzum says; I have still not been able to leave behind the Pagan religious-spiritual concept of a descent into darkness and the following ascend back into the light; the Pagan initiation, the elevation of man to the divine, the enlightenment of the mind, the feeding of the elven light in man.
