Grey With Black Marbling [Smoky Grey]
Three years after their fascinating debut, Suicide Forest is back with Reluctantly, a sophomore album which further develops their art. Taking their name from the Japanese Aokigahara forest, where many troubled
people travel to end their life, the one-man band from Tucson, Az., moves from classic depressive black metal coordinates and expands their sound palette. As a result, Reluctantly settles somewhere in between DSBM, atmospheric black metal and post-black/blackgaze.
The perfect company for restless souls, Reluctantly reminds of the eerie keyboard patterns of Burzum and the dilated atmospheres of contemporary US black metal pillars like Ash Borer, mixed with some unpredictable twists such as dissonant riffs and solos. Suicide Forest will please both those looking for furious up-tempos and the more introvert blacksters, looking for a sanctuary from the outside world.
Multi-instrumentalist and mastermind A.Kruger wrote Reluctantly in the second half of 2019, before the pandemic struck us all, but began tracking the album at his home studio in early 2020. About the lyrics, when asked what themes inform his work, he plainly replied: The whole album focuses
on the themes of resent and isolation, feelings that were only compounded considering the entirety of Reluctanlty was recorded during the covid-19 lockdown”.

To celebrate the first decade of such an important album, Avantgarde Music proudly presents a double-vinyl special edition aptly named Isolate X, which not only includes the original Isolate, but adds a second LP with reworks and reinterpretations from both fellow Avantgarde Music cosmic artists and friends of Mesarthim alike.
Isolate X includes contributions from Mike Lamb and Heike Langhans’ Remina, the newborn Italian black metal band Bianca (featuring members from Hideous Divinity), Australian solo projects Midnight Odyssey and Germ, and the rising cosmic force from Sweden Vrazorth.
With a wonderful handpainting by Heinke Langhans which reimagines the original NASA photo of the Horsehead Nebula, Isolate X is a perfect change to rediscover Mesarthim’s debut from an unexpected perspective, or experience it for the first time.

Mike Lamb (Sojourner) and Heike Langhans (Sojourner, ex-Draconian) are back with their personal gothic/doom project, Remina. The duo’s sophomore album, The Silver Sea, will follow their 2022 debut Strata and will be released on October 24th 2025 on CD and digital, once again via Avantgarde Music. Here follows the band’s statement.
The Silver Sea was written over the three year period following the release of our debut album Strata, and it is the product of the changes we experienced as both a band and on a personal level.
Remina took to the stage for the first time in 2023, and through this process we got to spend a lot of time in beautiful northern Italy bringing to life live versions of our songs with our excellent live lineup. The process of seeing how our sound translated to a live setting ultimately impacted how we approached this album. We didn't want to deviate from our vision for the band or the sound, but we did incorporate a much more musically 'direct' approach in the way the songs were written this time around. This was helped massively by the excellent drum tracking of Shayne Roos, who lifted our original ideas to an entirely new level. We are also honored to be joined by guest vocal spots from two musicians we greatly look up to, Mick Moss of Antimatter (Algol) and Tony Dunn of Sgàile (Vanta Ray).
On a personal level, we were dealing with the decision of having to uproot our lives in Europe and move back to New Zealand to be closer to family. The weight of the decision to move across the world, so far from the lives we had built, was reflected in the overarching themes and atmosphere of the album. While each song deals with its own subject matter, there is an overarching story running throughout as an invisible thread tying the album together.

For the 30th anniversary we are proud to present you this special edition of HELHEIMs classic debut-album Jormundgand in various formats.
In 1995, only one year after their second demo, HELHEIM’s eponymous debut album Jormundgand made its appearance.
Marked by its nearly eight-minute title track, it immediately establishes a powerful presence with sharp drums, piercing guitars, intense musicianship, and a distinct vocal performance reminiscent of early screams of Count Grishnackh. The track “Jormundgand” stands as a defining moment in Black Metal, encapsulating the band’s epic style and Norwegian roots. However, it’s the consistent quality and cohesion of the entire album that truly cements its legendary status. Although musically and thematically still drawing inspiration from early ENSLAVED “Jormundgand” is far from being a carbon copy of said band.
Even thirty years after its release, “Jormundgand” retains its raw power and enduring energy, solidifying its place as a classic in the Black Metal genre.
Recorded in the legendary Grieghallen Studio, this album is still a living witness of a time full of awakening, rebellion, creativity and nordic coldness.
A truly timeless creation released exactly 30 years ago and which has lost none of its hseer power nor energy.
A long and detailed new interview about the time from 1992-1997 was conducted with the band exclusively for these current reissues.
The LP comes with a hugh 24-page 12” booklet including the interview and many never before-seen pictures.
An A2 poster will be added to every vinyl too.

Av Norrøn Ætt, HELHEIM`s second album released in 1997 basically continues where the band left off with their predecessor. All the elements present on Jormundgand are part of their sound again – only intensified and more proficient. Thus, Av Norrøn Ætt features more chaotic Black Metal, more pronounced folk and Viking influences, and an even grander epic scope. Only the high-pitched screaming vocals are gone and have been replaced by grim croaking. The album is intense and ambitious, with long, complex tracks that showcase intricate arrangements. Its title track especially stands out as a fusion of Black Metal, Viking music, and even prog-rock influences. Often compared to early ENSLAVED, particularly their Eld album from the same year, Av Norrøn Ætt represents a peak of creativity for HELHEIM. It remains their most ambitious work and a unique, unmatched moment in their discography. Av Norrøn Ætt truly ranks among the masterpieces of Norwegian Black Metal.
The LP comes with a hugh 24-page 12” booklet including the interview and many never before-seen pictures.

NORDIC METAL
HELHEIM, founded in Bergen, Norway in 1992 were eager to establish themselves in the Norwegian Black Metal scene and released their first demo in 1993. Heavily influenced by BATHORY and including a cover of VENOM`s “Countess Bathory” to pay tribute to one of their foremost influences, the first demo, while being an interesting document of the time and showing potential, still lacked the depth and ambition of their later work.
Their second demo entitled Niðr Ok Norðr Liggr Helvegr and released in 1994 marked a major leap in style and quality. With a for a demo unusually long playing time of nearly 50 minutes, HELHEIM`s second effort saw the horde introducing female vocals, folk and Viking elements and even trumpets. Obviously influenced by compatriots ENSLAVED, it featured non-linear compositions and a unique sound. This demo is considered a landmark in Norwegian Metal and far surpasses the typical expectations of a demo release. It`s with Niðr Ok Norðr Liggr Helvegr that HELHEIM found their sound and catapulted themselves to the forefront of Norwegian Black Metal.
Remastered from the original DATs by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony.

Darkness Shall Rise Productions are proud to continue its reissue campaign by rereleasing the band`s only demo for the very first time on LP, CD and tape. The track “Autopoema” recorded at the same time as the other songs but not included on the original demo makes its first appearance as a bonus.
Although based out of Trondheim, Norway and entering the scene exactly when (Norwegian) Black Metal reached its popular peak after having garnered – besides brilliant music – worldwide notoriety for various criminal activities like arson and murder, THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL set out to tread an entirely different path. As one of the first bands which dared to blend Doom Metal`s heaviness with ethereal female vocals and progressive influences – a formula that countless bands would go on to embrace globally – the young Norwegians set themselves apart and carved out their own unique niche from the very start.
Formed in January of 1985 by Dave Carr (bass), Chuck Stadulis (drums), John Plumley (guitars) and Gary Capriotti (vocals), the Philadelphia outfit Anvil Bitch was immediately sending shock waves throughout the metal underground with their raw four-track basement demo tape, which established them as major contenders in the quickly growing thrash metal scene. Massive college radio airplay paired with selected international press and the support of influential journalists such as Don Kaye from Kerrang! and the staff at Kick Ass Monthly cemented Anvil Bitch’s reputation of one of the hottest new bands on the scene. The summer of 1986 saw Anvil Bitch enter the studio to record their debut album »Rise To Offend« for New Renaissance Records, along with the track “Neckbreaker” for release on the NRR compilation album »Speed Metal Hell 2« (following “To The Grave” on »Thrash Metal Attack« a year earlier). Underground metal fans finally saw the record hit the shelves in December ‘86. Initial pressings sold out in a matter of months. With albums sales still growing, the band set off on their first major tour playing dates with Motörhead and Nuclear Assault, along with a long leg of headlining shows on the East Coast, from Canada to Miami. In their hometown of Philadelphia Anvil Bitch were easily drawing 1,000+ punters. Unfortunately, Anvil Bitch split up before being able to record a follow-up to »Rise To Offend«. However, they managed to record a one-off EP named »Sanctify« in 2008, before calling it quits for a second time around. Having been out of print for a long time, High Roller Records is proud to announce the de luxe re-issue of an overlooked US thrash metal gem, featuring short sharp shocks such as “Vengeance Of The Sword”, “Maggot Infestation” or “Shark Attack”.
